The LIV Golf superstar shut down a return to the PGA Tour during a press conference on Tuesday, albeit looking and sounding rather downbeat about it all.

DeChambeau has been given the opportunity to make an immediate return to the PGA Tour via a new Returning Membership policy with a tight deadline of 2 February.

The new time-sensitive policy was set by PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp in light of Brooks Koepka being reinstated onto the PGA Tour.

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

Koepka quit the LIV Golf League when ending his contract a year early on 23 December.

Fast forward to this Monday and the five-time major champion was suddenly a PGA Tour member once again.

The move does have consequence though, and you can learn about that here.

Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith have also been handed a chance by Rolapp to return to the PGA Tour under the same policy, but like DeChambeau, they have shut the door.

In the case of DeChambeau, he confirmed to reporters on Tuesday that he intends to see out the remaining year of his LIV Golf contract in 2026.

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

What happens after that remains to be seen as DeChambeau is currently in talks with LIV Golf’s bankrollers, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, on a new deal.

But that process is taking time.

DeChambeau did, however, take to Instagram within minutes of his press conference to post a cryptic photo and message on his Story.

The two-time US Open teased his followers by posting an image of him shrugging his shoulders with an exit sign in the background.

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

He then used a question box with the words: “What would you do?”

Bryson’s cryptic post on his Instagram Story

The Telegraph understands DeChambeau expects to see his unprecedented $500m (£372m) demands to stay with LIV Golf met.

Should that happen, DeChambeau would replace Rahm ($300m in 2024) as LIV Golf’s most expensive ever signing.

But nothing has yet been confirmed.

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

In fact, there is even a possibility DeChambeau could snub both LIV Golf and the PGA Tour to simply play YouTube Golf around the four majors.

Could that really be a viable option to maintain sharpness ahead of The Masters, US PGA, US Open and The Open, and even the Ryder Cup?

Absolutely, in the eyes of Bryson, who has taken his popular YouTube channel to more than 2.5m subscribers in a short space of time.

“That’s an incredibly viable option I’ll tell you that,” DeChambeau told Front Office Sports with a smile.

“Doing the course record series, playing Break 50s does keep me dialled in for tournament golf, which is why I do it before competition.

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT

“So it’s a possibility, the financial opportunities are there and excited to see what comes of the future.”

DeChambeau was then further pressed by FOS about his latest negotiations with LIV Golf, but the Crushers captain added little to what he’d already explained during his Tuesday press conference.

“We’re negotiating now and hopefully we can come to a solution where it makes sense for the long term, and if not we’ll play this year and see what happens.”

Watch Bryson’s comments in full below:

Bryson Dechambeau tells @FOS that his LIV Golf contract negotiations will continue ahead of and potentially into the 2026 season, and that going tour-less, just doing YouTube Golf + the majors is an “incredibly viable option” in 2027 and beyond. pic.twitter.com/bx0BLJsZzV

!["Bryson's]("https://www.newsbeep.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/img_6212_0.PNG")
