There are few things better than a properly good Indian meal, and the wild success of\u00a0Dishoom<\/a>\u00a0proves it. Once a\u00a0single caf\u00e9-style eatery in Covent Garden, the brand now operates 14 total locations across the UK, and it\u2019s about to add another.<\/p>\n

Liverpool<\/a>\u00a0will be the next city to welcome the popular Indian chain. Instead of a traditional restaurant, however, the Scouse branch will become the fifth Dishoom \u2018Permit Room\u2019, an all-day bar\/caf\u00e9 with a slightly more casual feel with the same excellent quality food. So far, there are Permit Rooms in\u00a0Cambridge<\/a>,\u00a0Oxford<\/a>,\u00a0Brighton<\/a>, and on London\u2019s Portobello Road<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the company\u2019s CEO Brian Trolip, Liverpool has been on\u00a0Dishoom\u2019s\u00a0radar for some time.\u00a0The chain\u00a0opted for a Permit Room over a traditional restaurant because it felt it would match the energy of the city. Trolip described\u00a0the Permit Rooms as \u2018lively and rooted in the spirit of Bombay\u2019s drinking culture\u2019, which definitely sounds like the sort of spot that will fit nicely into Merseyside.<\/p>\n

But\u00a0Liverpool\u2019s new Permit Room won\u2019t\u00a0just be a bar. You\u2019ll also be able to enjoy the best of Dishoom\u2019s cooking, including classics like black daal, mattar paneer and a breakfast roll made of naan. Mains will range from a whole tandoori chicken to a lamb curry, and there will also be a range of sharing plates and bar snacks to order if you\u2019re primarily in for drinks.<\/p>\n

The bar is set to take over the site of the former Bank of Scotland on Dale Street at Exchange Court. A \u2018soft launch\u2019 will happen in late February, where you\u2019ll be able to enjoy half price food until the official opening in early March. You\u2019ll be able to make a booking on Dishoom\u2019s website in early February, although the restaurant will be\u00a0available for walk-ins too. No specific dates have been provided yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is the latest in a series of rapid expansions from Dishoom, which opened restaurants in\u00a0Glasgow<\/a>\u00a0and Leeds<\/a>\u00a0last year, and even launched a\u00a0little hotel in the capital<\/a>. It\u2019s also eyeing up a site in\u00a0London<\/a>\u00a0Bridge, which\u00a0would become its eighth location in the Big Smoke<\/a>. In even bigger news, it\u2019s set to cross the Atlantic and\u00a0recently secured investment\u00a0for an outpost in New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n
