Towards the end of last year, Coronation Street\u2019s Roy Cropper<\/a> (David Neilson<\/a>) started writing letters to prisoners. <\/p>\n As someone who spent time behind bars himself, Roy knows what it feels like to feel vulnerable and alone while there, so he decided to start communicating with those on the inside as a small way of trying to help.<\/p>\n Things have developed further than perhaps Roy was anticipating though, as he\u2019s now receiving letters from a woman called Alice, the mother of one of the prisoner\u2019s Roy has been speaking with.<\/p>\n He explained to Shona Platt<\/a> (Julia Goulding<\/a>) and Nina Lucas<\/a> (Mollie Gallagher<\/a>) previously that they had continued writing to each other, but that he had been thrown by the latest letter, as it seemed to have romantic undertones.<\/a><\/p>\n Roy admitted that the change of tone had knocked him, and Nina and Shona were quick to offer advice.<\/p>\n \t\t Shona instructed Roy to be transparent with Alice, but Roy was concerned he wouldn\u2019t be able to articulate his feelings.<\/p>\n Roy\u2019s developing connection with Alice continues in upcoming episodes, as he sits down in the caf\u00e9 ready to write his next letter to her. Sat beside him is Nina, who cannot help but tease Roy and suggest he takes his relationship with Alice to the next level.<\/p>\n Troubled, Roy takes offence and storms out.<\/p>\n It\u2019s possible Roy reacts in this way as it happens a couple of days before the anniversary of Hayley Cropper<\/a>\u2019s death. After time at the boating lake, the place where Hayley\u2019s ashes are scattered, Roy returns home. <\/p>\n He then gets talking to Nina about Alice once more. They discuss Alice\u2019s authenticity and the fact that she probably isn\u2019t a catfisher. They absolutely adore each other.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018So it\u2019s a big test for them, it\u2019s a big story for Bernie. Roy\u2019s embroiled in that story as well.
