These days, Greg Norman is watching the drama unfold from afar. <\/p>\n
Norman, the firebrand who led the LIV Golf League\u2019s rise in 2022 before being ousted from his job as chief executive last year, is finally no longer the game\u2019s chief disruptor. <\/p>\n
The Australian\u2019s lasting impact is undeniable, though. His legacy as the Great White Shark who dominated the sport is now complicated by the way he helped shift the landscape after his career.<\/p>\n
What Norman won\u2019t necessarily be remembered for however, is his fondness of the PGA Tour. That\u2019s a narrative he wants to change.<\/p>\n
\u201cBelieve it or not, I\u2019m still loyal to the PGA Tour because of, I\u2019m a lifetime member of the PGA Tour,\u201d Norman told The Big Swing with Jimmy Roberts podcast.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cSo this notion that I hate the PGA Tour is not true. The notion, the true factor is that I respect, I\u2019m loyal, and I do, and I love the fact that I\u2019m a lifetime member of the PGA Tour\u2026 I love the fact that I\u2019ve helped the PGA Tour \u2013 to some degree because of LIV \u2013 elevate itself.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s quite the one-eighty from his outlook during his time at LIV. And Norman, of course, was key in luring some big names from the US circuit to LIV when the insurgent league first launched. This week, Brooks Koepka was the first of those stars<\/a> to make a return.<\/p>\n The PGA Tour is now extending an olive branch for Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Cam Smith to also come back, but the trio have all confirmed<\/a> they will be staying put at least for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n While LIV\u2019s long-term fate is still uncertain, Norman feels he has achieved what he set out to do in the first place by bringing \u201cfree agency\u201d to the professional game.<\/p>\n
