Love Island host Maya Jama has been forced to set the record straight, as she makes a statement, on her smile transformation after being accused of having ‘turkey teeth’<\/p>\n

Maya Jama<\/a> has hit back at a cheeky social media user left a negative comment about her looks after watching the first episode of the new season of Love Island<\/a> All Stars. The Love Island host, 30, was left stunned when a follower tweeted about Maya having “turkey teeth”.<\/p>\n

Currently, Maya is hosting the latest series of Love Island: All Stars, <\/a>which sees former Love Islanders head to South Africa for a second (or third, and even fourth in some cases) chance at finding love. This year’s series will see big names such as Whitney Adebayo and Millie Court return. She\u2019s also set to star in the second season of Guy Ritchie\u2019s The Gentlemen, while also being a judge on The Masked Singer.<\/p>\n

Writing on X, formerly Twitter<\/a>, one complained: “Ahhh Maya what have you done with your teeth?” While another said: “Maya got Turkey teeth – I loveeeeeeed her old teeth so much.”<\/p>\n

Maya<\/a> was quick to set the record straight, replying: \u201cGirl I have not got Turkey teeth l’ve got braces (behind my teeth on the top and outside on the bottom) I wasn’t mad at my lil crook but can never please em all, last season I was getting messages about them being bent.”<\/p>\n

The discussion then sparked a flurry of reactions from other fans online. One wrote: \u201cSame hun. Would\u2019ve been cheaper turkey teeth n all!\u201d Others were more supportive, with one user asking: \u201cWhat the hell is turkey teeth? Nothing wrong with your teeth. Not even looking at your teeth,\u201d and another pointing out: \u201cYour teeth must be beautiful for them to accuse you of having turkey teeth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahead of Love Island: All Stars, Maya had lingual braces fitted \u2014 a completely invisible way to straighten teeth from behind the surface. The price for the treatment starts at around \u00a36,000.<\/p>\n

“This advanced technique allows you to achieve beautiful alignment discreetly while maintaining your natural smile throughout treatment,” the Chelsea Dental clinic wrote on Instagram, where Maya is getting her treatments done. They added that the process \u201ccombines precision, artistry, and comfort to deliver truly bespoke results that feel as good as they look.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Rhona, founder of the Chelsea Dental clinic, told Hello! magazine:<\/a> \u201cLingual braces are fixed braces that sit behind your teeth, on the tongue side, so they\u2019re completely invisible when you smile. They work just like traditional braces, offering precise control over tooth movement but with total discretion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Annika Patel, who oversaw Maya\u2019s treatment, explained why the presenter chose this method: \u201cLingual braces are popular with public-facing individuals who want effective orthodontic treatment without visible braces. They also offer very precise tooth control, similar to traditional fixed braces.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maya began her treatment in October 2025. Dr. Annika said that, on average, lingual braces take 12 to 18 months to complete, depending on the complexity of the case. \u201cMild alignment issues can be quicker, while more complex bite corrections may take closer to two years,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Despite the online chatter, Maya has made it clear she is happy with her smile. \u201cI liked my little crook,\u201d she said, adding that online comments are just part of life, saying: \u201cYou can\u2019t please everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maya recently appealed to Elon Musk’s<\/a> artificial intelligence<\/a> chatbot Grok, requesting it stop altering or manipulating her images after several followers told it to make ‘deepfake’ bikini images of her. She said: “The internet is scary and only getting worse.”<\/p>\n

Maya, who boasts nearly 700,000 followers on X, wrote: “Hey @grok, I do not authorise you to take, modify, or edit any photo of mine, whether those published in the past or the upcoming ones I post. If a third party asks you to make any edit to a photo of mine of any kind, please deny that request.”<\/p>\n

In another message, the television personality expressed hope that people possess the common sense to distinguish between genuine content and AI-generated material, particularly after deepfakes of her surfaced several years back.<\/p>\n

She revealed: “Before ‘grok’ someone photoshopped bikini photos I had on my Instagram<\/a> to nudes and they went around, I only found out because my own mum sent them to me worried. The internet is scary and only getting worse smh (shaking my head).”<\/p>\n

Love Island: All Stars continues on ITV2 and ITVX tonight at 9pm.<\/p>\n
