Update [Sat 17th Jan 2026, 7am]: Well, we can now categorically say that 16th January has come and gone without any mention of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake<\/a>, meaning that original rumour was wrong.<\/p>\n

Just to recap: a fairly well-regarded snoop had said Ubisoft was planning to release the title on 16th January. There had been hopes it may be a shadow drop, but we can now say with authority that didn\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t mean the original source was wrong, of course \u2013 plans may have changed behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

Regardless, the wait goes on for more information on this long-awaited PS2 remake.<\/p>\n

Original Story: According to esteemed rumour monger<\/a> Tom Henderson, the long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake<\/a> was due to release, well, today \u2013 on 16th January, 2026.<\/p>\n

But, well, it\u2019s not looking likely, is it?<\/p>\n

As we write this, we\u2019re already deep into the day, and not a peep from French publisher Ubisoft. We think the sands of time on this particular rumour are running out.<\/p>\n

There had been rumours that the title may be re-revealed at The Game Awards<\/a>, but that was ruled out prior to Geoff Keighley\u2019s show. Meanwhile, a slew of fake stories have come and gone over the past month or so \u2013 some of them fooling even us<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To be fair to Henderson, it\u2019s possible 16th January was a targeted release date at one point, but plans can change internally. Perhaps the publisher didn\u2019t feel it was the right time \u2013 or maybe the game still needs a bit more work.<\/p>\n

Either way, we don\u2019t think we\u2019ll be waiting too much longer for this title. It\u2019s been several years since its originally intended release date, and while we appreciate development has been rebooted since then, we\u2019d put money on an early 2026 release.<\/p>\n

Just not today, it seems.<\/p>\n
