A long, long time ago in a country far, far away, &#8216;Turbo Durbo&#8217; won a very similar short opening prologue in the Crit\u00e9rium du Dauphin\u00e9, beating no less a time trial star than Bradley Wiggins. Fastest time currently for Michael Leonard of 4:24. He&#8217;s got a hefty (by 3.2 kilometre prologue standards) advantage of 2.3 kilometres on Marco Brenner (Tudor).<\/p>\n<p>2026-01-20T07:38:47.808Z<\/p>\n<p id=\"022c9411-a341-4ce4-b93d-19d768ce5ccb\">No clear indication yet of times, but we&#8217;ll bring them as soon as we&#8217;ve got something vaguely official.<\/p>\n<p>2026-01-20T07:38:02.700Z<\/p>\n<p id=\"36b291b1-c0e8-4bba-9495-99ae2549be97\">More background from Simone Giuliani on the ground about the atmosphere out there in Adelaide: <br \/>&#8220;Crowds are starting to pack the roadside around the start area with riders sheltering from the sun under marquees before they line up, wearing ice vests given it\u2019s still warm despite the late start. Though with it being just a hop skip and jump from the village and their accomodation they don\u2019t have to worry about setting out too far in advance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>2026-01-20T07:36:11.831Z<\/p>\n<p id=\"66d11ecd-5e9c-4c57-b599-0f60ef076645\">Gogl powers home, the first rider across the line. But a time trialing specialist like Canadian TT champion Michael Leonard (EF Education-EasyPost) is out there on the course, and he&#8217;s likely to set a very good time, too.<\/p>\n<p>2026-01-20T07:32:28.073Z<\/p>\n<p id=\"79e5153f-d469-4fd0-b09d-4160addae72b\">And Gogl is off, the Tour Down Under is officially underway.<\/p>\n<p>2026-01-20T07:26:38.019Z<\/p>\n<p id=\"ce04a2cf-83dd-498c-b6ad-d57ab05bf958\">Critically, it&#8217;s mostly flat.<\/p>\n<p>2026-01-20T07:25:42.942Z<\/p>\n<p id=\"53ae99a4-8d6c-4f64-b922-6c390b250ce4\">As for the course, here&#8217;s what the riders can expect: some technical bits, basically and some bits to get a good turn of speed on:<br \/>&#8220;The prologue starts near the Tour village with a straight stretch down Wakefield Street before a right turn into East terrace after 1.1km and then another left, right and then left hand turn in quick succession before a sharp left and two hairpin turns before riders can complete the run through to the finish line at Victoria Park.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>2026-01-20T07:22:26.330Z<\/p>\n<p id=\"e34265cc-8cee-48e1-9285-47dace30c271\">If you&#8217;re wondering, the last time there was a prologue in the Tour Down Under was back in 2023, also in Adelaide.
