Due to post-Brexit rules, he will officially join in July 2026 once he turns 18. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 World Cup Star: The 6\u20195\u201d defender was a standout at the U17 World Cup, helping Austria reach the final while conceding just twice in the entire tournament. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Coach\u2019s Warning: Austria U17 coach Hermann Stadler admitted he wished Ndukwe had stayed in Vienna for \u201canother year\u201d to develop under senior mentors before moving abroad. <\/p>\n<p>As one of three centre-backs Liverpool have made their move for, along with Noah Adekoya and Talla Ndiaye, Ndukwe is just 17 years old but highly rated.<\/p>\n<p>He is currently a part of the Austria Vienna youth setup, but due to post-Brexit regulations, he cannot move to Liverpool until the summer because he is not yet 18 years old.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Ifeanyi-Ndukwe2-820x547.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"547\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-332575\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a data-mil=\"333292\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/2026\/01\/who-is-ifeanyi-ndukwe-liverpool-transfer-fee-style-quotes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">READ MORE: Who is Ifeanyi Ndukwe? New Liverpool centre-back \u2013 transfer fee, style of play &amp; quotes<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At 6\u20195\u2033, he stood out at the U17 World Cup in November, where he reached the final with Austria and conceded just two goals in the entire tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Ndukwe\u2019s Austria U17s coach, Hermann Stadler, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.laola1.at\/de\/red\/fussball\/bundesliga\/news\/stadler-ueber-ndukwe--ein-jahr-austria-haette-ihm-auch-gutgetan-\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">LAOLA1<\/a> that \u201che has the potential to become a great centre-back,\u201d but wishes he had delayed his move to Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very happy for Ify; he deserves it,\u201d said the coach. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has made a huge step forward in the last year, delivering a top performance in every game at the World Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe received this offer from Liverpool partly because of the World Cup. An experienced player like [Aleksandar] Dragovic could have mentored him there, and then maybe he could have gone abroad at 18 or 19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has no guarantee that he\u2019ll make it big, neither with Austria nor at Liverpool. We\u2019ll know more in two or three years, but I believe he has the potential to become a great centre-back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Who is Ifeanyi Ndukwe? A brief look<\/p>\n<p>Ndukwe is a right-sided centre-back who is remarkably tall for his age at 6\u20195\u2033, but still possesses considerable pace which aids him in recovery.<\/p>\n<p>From exploring his highlights while playing for Austria\u2019s youth teams, Ndukwe appears to be a front-footed defender who prefers to snuff out attacks before they develop.<\/p>\n<p>He also possesses a strong passing range, including pinpoint long balls with his natural right foot, which has drawn comparisons to Liverpool captain <a data-ail=\"333292\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/virgil-van-dijk\/\" title=\"Virgil van Dijk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Virgil van Dijk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Austria Vienna U21s manager Max Uhlig on Ifeanyi Ndukwe (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.laola1.at\/de\/red\/fussball\/bundesliga\/news\/millionenregen--die-hintergruende-zu-ndukwes-transfer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Laola1<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s remarkable how clear-headed he already is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot has happened to him in the last year.
