{"id":380882,"date":"2026-01-20T19:56:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T19:56:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/380882\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T19:56:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T19:56:12","slug":"ahmm-submits-plans-for-latest-old-street-tower","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/380882\/","title":{"rendered":"AHMM submits plans for latest Old Street tower"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Finsgate House scheme at 5-7 Cranbrook Street, for developer <a href=\"https:\/\/hubliving.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HUB<\/a>, is the AJ100 practice\u2019s latest major project near Old Street roundabout \u2013 the so-called Silicon Roundabout area of east London, close to where the practice has its studios.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme consists of two buildings: a 35-storey tower with 490 co-living units, and a smaller five-storey office block offering 4,000m\u00b2 of workspace plus associated landscaping.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme at the junction of Cranbrook Street and City Road would replace the existing 1980s Finsgate House, which AHMM said \u2018offers poor quality office space that presents a number of issues\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Planning documents for the scheme say that between 95 and 98 per cent of demolished material \u2013 including bricks, concrete, steel and ceramics \u2013 could be reused in internal finishes, landscaping and for plant structure.<\/p>\n<p>Each floor of the proposed tower typically contains 18 self-contained studios alongside communal amenity spaces and terraces spread throughout the building.<\/p>\n<p>AHMM has already overseen the completion of 17-storey building <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/buildings\/ahmm-completes-major-mixed-use-retrofit-project-in-old-street\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Bower<\/a>, a retrofit and extension office development, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/buildings\/building-study-white-collar-factory-by-ahmm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the White Collar Factory<\/a>, a campus of office buildings with a 16-storey tower, which was home to a second AHMM Studio for several years.<\/p>\n<p>Other towers planned for the Old Street area include Studio Kyson\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/studio-kyson-gets-second-approval-in-nine-years-for-old-street-tower\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">twice consented plans<\/a> for a 14-storey tower, and KPF\u2019s approved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/kpf-wins-planning-for-153m-tall-old-street-skyscraper\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">35-storey tower.<\/a> Surrounding buildings include Squire &amp; Partners\u2019 completed 23-story hotel, and Make Architects\u2019 40-storey The Atlas tower.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Finsgate House scheme at 5-7 Cranbrook Street, for developer HUB, is the AJ100 practice\u2019s latest major project&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":380883,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[31],"tags":[6225,6485,6486,1120,96,56,54,55],"class_list":["post-380882","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-arts-and-design","tag-arts","tag-arts-and-design","tag-artsanddesign","tag-design","tag-entertainment","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/380882","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=380882"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/380882\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/380883"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=380882"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=380882"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=380882"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
