Some baby animals\u2019 survival skills are instinctual<\/a>, while others must be learned from their mothers. For these orphaned baby orangutans who don\u2019t have moms to teach them, this learning happens at jungle school with their caretakers. The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) rescues orangutans in need and cares for them in rescue centers, where they\u2019re taught how to care for themselves. They recently shared a clip of some little ones learning how to crack open a coconut, and it\u2019s guaranteed to make you smile.<\/p>\n

Watch and listen as BOSF explains how the learning process works and as the babies try out their new skills. Valentino, who\u2019s earned the title of class clown, needs a little extra help and heads to his foster mom for some extra attention, and it\u2019s so sweet to see!<\/p>\n

BOSF<\/a> shares more in the video’s caption, “Valentino and friends sat for fruit time at Jungle School. The lesson was coconut<\/a> cracking. Some learned fast, others watched and tried until the shell opened. These moments help young orangutans learn to find and eat food. Caregivers show steps, and the orangutans practice together to help Valentino and classmates learn.”<\/p>\n

Viewers loved getting a peek inside jungle school and watching the baby orangutans<\/a>, and left hundreds of comments about it.
