bookable offence then gave Derby a nervy end to the game but they held on for all three points.

Derby made their intention clear early on when Patrick Agyemang surged to the edge of the area, saw the space open up and curled a shot towards goal which was saved by Thomas Kaminski.

The American’s next intervention though was more decisive when, after linking up with Bobby Clark, he surged towards the six-yard box.

The angle was too acute for a shot, but the striker fired a cross into the six-yard box which cannoned off Macaulay Gillesphey and over the line.

The only danger Derby faced was from themselves as an error from Matt Clarke allowed Lyndon Dykes the chance to charge at goal.

But the Scotsman’s progress was crudely halted by the defender which led to screams for a red card from the fans in the home end.

However, Joe Ward was in an excellent covering position and while a free-kick on the edge of the box was awarded, Richard O’Donnell made a comfortable save.

Corey Blackett-Taylor then had a golden chance to make it 2-0 when he raced through on Ben Brereton Diaz’s flick but couldn’t steer past Kaminski.

A wonderful pass from Sondre Langas then set Brereton Diaz clear but just as he was about to strike at goal, he just seemed to be stretching and poked it past the post.

The chances kept on coming as Agyemang fired wide of the post from Ward’s cross before Derby eventually doubled their lead down to a superb team goal.

Agyemang and Clark exchanged flicks before Brereton Diaz found the latter with a fine pass and the midfielder took the care of the rest by firing into the bottom corner.

Charlton were given a route back into the game, however, when Tyreece Campbell’s strike from outside the box cracked the inside of the post.

The hosts sensed a way back into the game and they were given a further boost when Clarke saw red for a second yellow card and the defender was angry with himself over the dismissal.

But Derby held on to all three points.

Richard O’Donnell: The third-choice goalkeeper was dropped into the team after Zetterstrom pulled out through illness, but the experienced stopper did really well. Kicking was terrific. Made a good save to deny Gillesphey’s free-kick. 7.5

Joe Ward: The full-back was generally solid although Tyreece Campbell’s pace was a bit of a nuisance whenever he had space to run into. Created a good chance for Agyemang. 7

Sondre Langas: The Norwegian centre-back was excellent throughout and had a feisty battle with Miles Leaburn who trampled on him in the first half which angered the defender. Came into his own after Clarke’s red card. 8

Matt Clarke: Got away with a mistake in the first half that sparked him into an action that earned him a yellow card and that proved decisive given he picked up another in the second half. Was fuming with himself. 4.5

Craig Forsyth: The long-serving Scotsman’s distribution wasn’t the best but he defended well enough throughout and didn’t let the side down. 6

Ben Brereton Diaz: Worked incredibly hard on the right-hand side and had a golden chance in the first half to extend the lead. Pass for Clark’s goal was so good. 7.5

David Ozoh: A really classy and mature performance from the on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder who was able to drive forwards on occasion too. Was replaced in the second half with an eye on West Brom on Friday. Derby missed him when he went off. 7.5

Liam Thompson: Was thrust into the thick of the action after the decision was taken to rest Lewis Travis. Worked really hard. 6

Corey Blackett-Taylor: The winger had a fine chance to make it 2-0 when he raced clean through but was denied by Kaminski. There were some good bits and not so good. 5

Bobby Clark: The midfielder was really sharp in possession. Linked up really well with Agyemang and is such a good player to watch. Brain is super sharp, links play up so well and his form of late deserved a goal. 8

Patrick Agyemang: The striker is such a handful and seems to be in really good run of form. Was integral to the own goal and was so close in the second half to grabbing another too. 7

Subs

Lewis Travis (Ozoh 60): The captain was given another 30 minutes in the tank just to keep him ticking over. Got stuck in immediately. 6

Rhian Brewster (Blackett-Taylor 60): The former Liverpool attacker managed to clear the ground with a shot when he came on. Still yet to his best form. 5

Lars Jorgen Salvesen (Agyemang 76): The striker came on to try to make a nuisance of himself but didn’t have any chances. 5

Oscar Fraulo (Clark 76): Has not been fazed by the demands of the Championship and was tidy when he came on. 5

Here’s how the players rated as John Eustace’s side secured another three points on the road in the…

[33
144671,45743,218,144670,101,56,54,55
post-381445","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-football","tag-charlton-athletic-fc","tag-derby-county","tag-football","tag-john-eustace","tag-sports","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
