Robson Green is something of a stalwart on the small screen, with major TV hits like Soldier Soldier, Strike Back and Grantchester <\/a>under his belt.<\/p>\n

Now 61, the TV star<\/a> – who was born in Hexham, Northumberland and raised in Dudley – has also been in films such as Me & Mrs Jones and A Night on the Tyne and has even made a splash on the music scene as part of chart-topping musical duo Robson and Jerome<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here’s what we know about Robson’s most notable roles, how he dealt with losing precious items in a flood and his love life, including two divorces.<\/p>\n

Robson Green’s biggest roles<\/p>\n

Robson started acting at a young age, appearing in school productions, and started out on TV in his early 20s when he bagged a part in Casualty.<\/p>\n

He went on to play fusilier Dave Tucker in the drama series Soldier Soldier, starring in the hit show from 1991 to 1995.<\/p>\n

His rising popularity saw Robson Green successfully negotiate a deal with ITV<\/a> to appear in various dramas including Touching Evil, Grafters and Reckless. Others shows followed, such as Touching Evil and Grafters, and in 2002 the actor was cast as clinical psychologist Dr Tony Hill in the crime drama Wire in the Blood, a role he held until 2008.<\/p>\n

Other projects have included comedy drama Christmas<\/a> Lights, Rocket Man, Waterloo Road, Being Human and Strike Back, as well as his angling show Extreme Fishing<\/a> with Robson Green.<\/p>\n

However, many people may know him best for ITV detective drama Grantchester, with Robson playing was veteran DI Geordie Keating since 2014.<\/p>\n

Robson Green’s divorces and vow not to marry again<\/p>\n

Robson married occupational therapist Alison Ogilvie in 1991 but their relationship ended in 1999.<\/p>\n

He tied the knot with his second wife, former model Vanya Seager, while she was working as Simon Cowell’s secretary and he was recording Unchained Melody with Jerome Flynn. The couple had a son, Taylor Robson Green, in April 2000, before exchanging vows in 2001.<\/p>\n

However, after a decade of marriage the pair parted company and in 2013 their divorce was finalised. The actor told the Daily Mail that the couple “just grew apart”.<\/p>\n

“I don’t blame it on the career,” he said. “It’s just we were different and we didn’t develop together. My mind went in one direction<\/a>, hers in the other.”<\/p>\n

Robson found love again with Zoila Short, after they apparently met at a gym. But in a 2023 interview with The Times, he suggested that although they were “very happy” there were no plans to get married, confessing: “No, I’ve done enough of that.”<\/p>\n

‘Devastated’ after 2015 flood<\/p>\n

In 2015 the star’s historic 350-year-old home was devastated by a catastrophic flood, and he ended up losing many special items.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Times, he said: “In 2015 my house was under seven feet of water, destroyed in a flood. Everything precious and personal in my life, just washed away. It was very painful, I was devastated. Not only were there salmon going down the Tyne that day, my three-piece suite was, too.”<\/p>\n

He later told Mail on Sunday: “It was the perfect storm. There was a massive amount of rain, a spring tide, and at the same time the Kielder Water dam had to release 20 cubic metres of water a second to prevent it bursting.<\/p>\n

“I’m right on the apex of where all this water met, and a huge surge swelled up straight through my house.”<\/p>\n
