Welsh singer Dave Edmunds is seriously ill in intensive care after a cardiac arrest, says his wife. The Cardiff-born singer, aged 81, is reported by the Express <\/a>to have died before being resuscitated.<\/p>\n His wife of 40 years, Cecilia Edmunds, known as Cici, shared an emotional post on Facebook<\/a> detailing the incident at their home in Rockfield, Monmouthshire<\/a>. Cici described how she attempted to “keep him alive” and how a nurse performed “heavy CPR” on Dave at their home.<\/p>\n Cici relayed the nurse’s words: “Cici I’m gonna stop. Dave is gone. He is dead.”<\/p>\n Cici says she refused to give up on her husband and asked fans to send prayers and messages of support for Dave, who is critically ill in hospital.<\/p>\n She revealed that he has suffered significant brain damage and memory loss, and is at a “high risk” of experiencing another cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n She said: “I’m still in shock and I believe I have PTSD from the horrific experience.<\/p>\n “My brilliant talented funny and special Dave could really use as many peoples prayers and good wishes so to speak.”<\/p>\n “Thank you all for your support and well wishes. It means the world to me. Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have.<\/p>\n “But knowing that there are kind hearted people such as you all. Makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. One said: “All my love, support and prayers to Dave, and please stay on your road to recovery, Cici.”<\/p>\n Another shared: “Deepest heartfelt prayers for Dave, praying for a miracle.”<\/p>\n A third person contributed: “Hi Cici. This is such sad news. Our thoughts are with you in such trying times.”<\/p>\n The musician is best known or his 1970 Christmas<\/a> No. 1 hit I Hear You Knocking, which sold three million copies and climbed to number four in America.<\/p>\n He enjoyed numerous chart successes during the 1970s and early 1980s with songs such as Slipping Away, The Promised Land and Girls Talk.<\/p>\n Dave established Love Sculpture, releasing their first single in 1968, before pursuing a solo career and collaborating with notable artists including Sir Paul McCartney and Nick Lowe.<\/p>\n Dave wed his Swedish wife Cici in 1983, and the couple now live in their home Monmouth.<\/p>\n Get Cardiff news updates on your phone by joining our WhatsApp community here<\/a>.
