Late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s 80-year-old mother, Rani Kapur, has filed a fresh suit before the Delhi High Court, alleging that Priya Kapur manipulated him into committing fraud.<\/p>\n
This marks the latest development in the wider inheritance battle between Priya, who was Sunjay’s third wife, and actor Karisma Kapoor’s children<\/a> over her husband’s Rs 30,000-crore estate.<\/p>\n The fresh petition challenges the validity of the Rani Kapur Family Trust. She alleged that the trust was fraudulently created in her name but used to divert control of assets. She accused Priya of being the “chief mastermind” of the conspiracy.<\/p>\n Rani Kapur claimed that Priya and unnamed co-conspirators engaged in \u201cmalafide and illegal acts\u201d to deprive her of her share of family wealth.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n She alleged that Priya acted swiftly to take control of Sona Group and other Kapur holdings during the 13-day mourning period after her son’s death.<\/p>\n In her suit, Rani Kapur has sought a permanent order barring Priya and others from acting on behalf of that trust or using any of its assets. She has also appealed to the court to declare the trust as fraudulent and invalid.<\/p>\n Sunjay Kapur, former chairman of auto-parts maker Sona Comstar, died in June 2025 at age 53 due to a cardiac arrest in the middle of a polo match. His children by Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan, have challenged a will that reportedly leaves most of his personal estate to Priya and her children, excluding them and other close relatives. They contend that the propounded will is possibly forged.<\/p>\n
