In the clip, posted online Tuesday, cast member and Minnesota native Tommy Brennan joined SNL\u2019s \u201cWeekend Update\u201d desk to discuss the growing unrest in the state after an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Nicole Good<\/a>, a mom of three, earlier this month amid the Trump administration\u2019s ramped-up immigration raids. <\/p>\n \u201cLook, I know that no one is dying for a hot take on this from a guy who looks like he was home-schooled on a yacht,\u201d Brennan joked in the clip this past weekend<\/a>. \u201cBut, it would be insane to ignore what\u2019s happening in my hometown right now.\u201d <\/p>\n He continued: \u201cI know there\u2019s nothing I can say that will ease the grief and anger and fear that a lot of people are feeling right now. But I wanted to show you one thing from the ICE protests in Minnesota that gave me just a glimmer of hope.\u201d <\/p>\n SNL then repeatedly played a viral clip of an ICE agent slipping and falling on ice while patrolling in Minnesota. <\/p>\n open image in gallery<\/p>\n SNL\u2019s Tommy Brennan joined the \u201cWeekend Update\u201d desk in a cut-for-time segment mocking ICE agents in Minnesota (YouTube\/Saturday Night Live)<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then, he gets up and just jogs back to his car,\u201d Brennan notes. \u201cJust completely gives up on his mission. It honestly kind of looks like that was his mission. Like, his superior officer was like, \u2018Hey go do a Scooby-Doo fall on that ice, and then hobble your way back to the car.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n Brennan then added: \u201cAlso, just to be clear, I\u2019m not reveling in another person\u2019s pain. If I wanted to do that, I would join ICE.\u201d<\/p>\n Taking a more serious tone, Brennan then noted that he was \u201creally proud\u201d to be from Minnesota. <\/p>\n \u201cMinneapolis is a city of immigrants, and that\u2019s what makes it great. I grew up playing on all-immigrant soccer teams, and let me tell you, it is not easy to catch those guys. So good luck, you know,\u201d Brennan joked. <\/p>\n \u201cI guess I\u2019m just showing this video \u2018cause these are the athletes that Minnesotans are dealing with,\u201d he said, as the clip played again. <\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re not like them. We won\u2019t jog back to the car and we won\u2019t slip up \u2018cause in Minnesota we\u2019ve been dealing with ICE our whole lives, b***h,\u201d he concluded before calling out: \u201cLeave Minnesota alone!\u201d <\/p>\n Though Brennan\u2019s bit drew applause and cheers from the live studio audience, it didn\u2019t make the 90 minute broadcast. SNL regularly uploads \u201ccut for time\u201d sketches that they don\u2019t air during the show on YouTube. The Independent has asked SNL for comment on why this segment didn\u2019t make the cut. <\/p>\n The clip, shared across SNL\u2019s social media pages, has garnered nearly 200,000 likes on Instagram and over 307,000 views on YouTube. However, fans were disappointed in the delay, noting the timing felt \u201ccowardly.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cFeels like a cowardly move to cut this one tbh,\u201d one user wrote on Instagram.
