Morgan Rogers has singled out one of Marcus Rashford\u2019s former Manchester United teammates who mirrored his playing style on the pitch in certain ways.<\/p>\n

Marcus Rashford<\/a> has played alongside Morgan Rogers on the international stage with England and crossed paths with him again as a teammate at club level.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old Manchester United<\/a> forward spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Villa Park after his falling out with Ruben Amorim<\/a> at Old Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rashford spent six months at Aston Villa<\/a> during his loan spell and the Premier League club opted not to make his move permanent to Villa Park last summer.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils talent, who is on loan at Barcelona, netted four times and registered six assists in 17 matches across all competitions during his loan spell with Villa.<\/p>\n

Speaking to BBC Sport<\/a>, Morgan Rogers spotlighted former Manchester United and France midfielder Paul Pogba<\/a> as a midfield player who is comparable to himself.<\/p>\n

Paul Pogba was not the only midfielder who was picked out by Rogers, who also felt that former Ivory Coast and Manchester City star Yaya Toure was equally similar.<\/p>\n

Rogers said that he did not match the talent of either Pogba or Yaya Toure, but he can see parallels with the way they have played compared with his own approach.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, it\u2019s any players that kind of have that no-care attitude and just keep trying and keep going again and keep going again,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think people like Paul Pogba, Yaya Toure, there\u2019s [sic] a few taller midfielders that have a lot of ability and a lot of running power.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think those are players that kind of similar to me. That I can kind of watch and look at about how they play. I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve got their ability, by the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why Morgan Rogers feels so strongly about former Man Utd midfielder Paul Pogba and former Man City midfielder Yaya Toure<\/p>\n

Paul Pogba\u2019s second spell at Man Utd<\/a> came to an end in 2022 after he left Old Trafford once his contract expired and he re-signed for Juventus on a free.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old French midfielder was brought back to the Premier League club in a blockbuster move from Juventus in 2016 after United splashed out a \u00a389.3m fee.<\/p>\n

Rogers insisted that the likes of Yaya Toure and Pogba would tap into their midfield physicality and he could relate to the way that he approaches his role on the pitch.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut yeah, they\u2019re players you try and look up to and think, Yeah, the way they play, especially Yaya Toure, the way he used to run from box to box and how good he was, how strong he was,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think, yeah, there\u2019s [sic] certain parts of my game that are quite can be quite similar. I think he\u2019s on the next level.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t get me wrong, but yeah, I think there\u2019s [sic] certain players like that. Those are the ones that stick out of my head: that freedom, that no-care attitude and just play so freely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pogba made his return to football in 2025 after serving out his doping ban and the 2018 World Cup winner signed for Ligue 1 side Monaco on a free transfer.<\/p>\n
