Celtic will open up the chequebook in the summer transfer window if they fail to win the Scottish Premiership title.<\/p>\n
That is according to football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, who has exclusively told\u00a0Football Insider his view on Celtic<\/a>\u2018s business in the January window.<\/p>\n The Hoops have only made two loan signings in the January window so far, despite the club\u2019s strong financial accounts.<\/p>\n Celtic fans criticised the board for their lack of transfer spending<\/a> last summer, and the Glasgow club are currently six points behind Hearts<\/a> in the league table.<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to\u00a0Football Insider, Plumley is not surprised to see Celtic have not had a busy January window.<\/p>\n \u201cNo I\u2019m not surprised,\u201d Plumley said.<\/p>\n \u201cHistorically, January tends to be a little bit quieter anyway.\u00a0I think\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0going to\u00a0be an interesting kind of next few months to consider because, as I say, a lot will depend on where the title ends up.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cAnd if Hearts manage to\u00a0puncture, you know, to puncture that dominance of Celtic and Rangers,\u00a0both of those clubs will be hurting because of that, and you might see some reaction.\u00a0<\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s also, of course, what Rangers will then do, because we know Danny Rohl will be aggressive, and he\u2019ll look to invest and, you know, he\u2019s been asking for people or for players already in January, so Rangers might go on the offensive a little bit.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cSo, yes, Celtic might feel like they\u00a0have to\u00a0make moves in the summer. It\u2019s probably more of a six months down the line of looking at the next kind of two to three years, rather than, you know, right now pulling the trigger on some, what would be, fairly expensive transfer fees, and there\u2019s no guarantee they will come off anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n Celtic announced the loan signing of Tomas Cvancara<\/a> from Borussia Monchengladbach, but the club still want to add to their attacking options.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/celtic-v-rangers-scottish-premier-league_1_590x405_1200x824-1024x703.jpg\")
