Rian Johnson\u2019s plans to revive his recently cancelled<\/a>, also recently-lost-its-star Columbo\u00a0throwback\u00a0Poker Face, by swapping in Peter Dinklage for the outgoing Natasha Lyonne, has always felt a bit Quixotic. Partly it\u2019s just that streamer swaps\u2014which the show would have to pull off, given that Peacock has announced it doesn\u2019t want a third season of Charlie Cale\u2019s crime-solving misadventures\u2014are tricky prospects in any case. But also, the \u201cWell, why not Peter Dinklage of it all?\u201d has always felt like a bit of an intentional swerve. It\u2019s not that Dinklage\u00a0couldn\u2019t\u00a0be amazing as a drifting lie-detecting detective\u2014we\u2019d watch that show in a heartbeat\u2014but that Lyonne\u2019s weathered vibes were such an integral part of the show\u2019s texture. It\u2019s not \u201cPoker Face\u00a0with Peter Dinklage\u201d that throws us, so much as \u201cPoker Face\u00a0without Lyonne.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nevertheless: Dinklage is\u00a0in.\u00a0Deadline\u00a0reports today<\/a> that the\u00a0Game Of Thrones\u00a0veteran has no reservations about stepping into the series\u2014if Johnson can make it happen. \u201cIt\u2019s in the works,\u201d Dinklage confirmed, joking that the new version of the series could change its name to Roulette Face. (And, again, it feels like turning the series into an anthology of different gravelly-voiced performers saying \u201cBullshit!\u201d misses part of what made Lyonne so good in the part, but we digress.) \u201cWhat I hear,\u201d Dinklage added, \u201cIs that it\u2019s just hard to take it from one home to put it in another. It\u2019s the complicated nature of that, I believe. But Rian is a creative genius and whatever he wants to write, I would love to be a part of that.\u201d<\/p>\n
