{"id":388311,"date":"2026-01-24T16:57:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-24T16:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/388311\/"},"modified":"2026-01-24T16:57:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-24T16:57:10","slug":"new-nhs-wales-app-update-shows-patients-their-waiting-list-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/388311\/","title":{"rendered":"New NHS Wales App update shows patients their waiting list status"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n                Wrexham.com &gt; News\n              <\/p>\n<p> Posted: Sat 24th Jan 2026 <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1769273830_980_wales-app-840x443.png\" alt=\"Wrexham.com for people living in or visiting the Wrexham area\"\/><\/p>\n<p>People across Wales can now see where they are on NHS waiting lists using the NHS Wales App, following a new update to the service.<\/p>\n<p>The latest update allows people who have been added to a waiting list since December to check their waiting list status, view their referral into hospital care, and access information to help manage their health while waiting for treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Users can also see details about upcoming hospital appointments, including directions and supporting information.<\/p>\n<p>To date, more than 80,000 waiting list referrals and more than 197,000 hospital appointment notifications have been added to the app.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\t           &#13;<br \/>\n\t\t         &#13;<br \/>\n\t\t&#13;<br \/>\n\t\t&#13;<br \/>\n\t\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>More than 650,000 people have registered to use the bilingual app since it launched in April 2023, equivalent to around one in five adults in Wales.<\/p>\n<p>There have also been nearly 13.5 million logins and more than three million repeat prescription orders.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"840\" height=\"420\" class=\"img-responsive alignnone  size-large img-responsive  wp-image-284558\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/listnhs-840x420.jpg\" alt=\"\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The app forms part of the Welsh Government\u2019s digital transformation plans for healthcare and is available to people registered with a GP in Wales.<\/p>\n<p>People can already order repeat prescriptions, view their health timeline and prescription history, check their organ donation consent, and access trusted health advice including screening and wellbeing services.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>The app also allows users to send secure messages to their GP surgery and verify their identity using the Welsh Identity Verification Service.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Sarah Murphy, said: \u201cOur ambition remains for the NHS Wales App to become the digital front door for all NHS and social care services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe promised to give people more information about how long they can expect to wait for treatment. These updates deliver on that commitment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue to update and expand the app\u2019s capabilities, ensuring it meets the needs of patients and clinicians alike.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFuture developments will include summary health records and test results being available for people on the app.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spotted something?
