Footage has emerged of a training ground altercation that led to NSW Waratahs<\/a> lock Miles Amatosero<\/a> being suspended for four games.<\/p>\n

The Waratahs confirmed the ban on Saturday following what they described as a training \u201cincident\u201d earlier this month. A report from the Sydney Morning Herald claimed new signing Angus Scott-Young<\/a> suffered a fractured eye socket after being struck several times during the session.<\/p>\n

\u201cRugby Australia<\/a> and the NSW Waratahs confirm that Miles Amatosero has been suspended for four games following a formal review into a training ground incident earlier this month,\u201d a statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmatosero can reduce his suspension to two games upon successful completion of counselling and education programs.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will miss the Waratahs\u2019 upcoming trial matches against the Reds<\/a> and Brumbies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Footage of the violent encounter between the 6\u20198, 125kg Amatosero and 6\u20194, 108kg back-row Scott Young \u2013 which involved multiple other players and seemed to take place over two separate incidents \u2013 is now doing the rounds on social media after being released by Code Sports.<\/p>\n

The bust-up was reminiscent of the infamous training ground scraps of the past. Alun Wyn Jones<\/a> and Jake Ball<\/a> duked it out when Wales<\/a> training turned sour, while Danny Cipriani<\/a> was knocked unconscious by Wasps<\/a> fullback Josh Lewsey<\/a> during a similar boilover during a training session. Unlike those incidents, the damage apparently done to Scott-Young has meant the fracas has not remained behind closed doors. <\/p>\n

The option to halve the sanction would rule Amatosero out only of the two preseason fixtures against the Queensland Reds and ACT Brumbies.<\/p>\n

The Waratahs open their Super Rugby Pacific<\/a> campaign with three home games, hosting the Reds and Fijian Drua<\/a> before a round-three bye, followed by a round-four visit from the Hurricanes.<\/p>\n

Amatosero, 23, joined the Waratahs in 2024 after three seasons with Clermont<\/a> Auvergne in the Top 14, where he made 31 appearances, including 10 starts.<\/p>\n
