A popular Greggs<\/a> on Newcastle city centre<\/a> has been closed for three days due to a ’till issue’. The shop, on Blackett Street, has remained closed throughout Thursday, Friday and into Saturday due to an ongoing problem.<\/p>\n

A member of staff at the Greggs store near Grey’s Monument and Old Eldon Square<\/a> confirmed the surprise closure, citing the fact that ‘the tills weren’t working’. It is unclear at this time whether the city centre location will be back open in time for a busy Sunday, with Newcastle United playing at home.<\/p>\n

Outside the shop there is a notice stuck to the door telling customers “Sorry we are closed today”. Thankfully, prospective customers didn’t have to go far for their Greggs fix despite the Blackett Street closure, with stores inside Eldon Square, on Grey Street, and on Northumberland<\/a> Street all within a five to ten minute walk of this location.<\/p>\n

We have contacted Greggs for comment on this temporary shop closure, but we are yet to receive a response from the company.<\/p>\n
