It was 1.2% for the last three months and we inherited the worst inflation in the history of our country\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">This is incorrect, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/cpi.nr0.htm\" class=\"ssrcss-ydgjc1-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">official inflation figures show prices rose 2.7% in the 12 months to December 2025. , external<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Inflation has come down from 3% in January last year, but it remains above the 2% target set by the Federal Reserve, the US central bank.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Furthermore, Trump did not inherit the \u201cworst\u201d inflation on record, which was 23.7% in 1920. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">\u201cWe have economic growth now of 5.4%\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Latest official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bea.gov\/news\/2025\/gross-domestic-product-3rd-quarter-2025-initial-estimate-and-corporate-profits\" class=\"ssrcss-ydgjc1-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">data shows US GDP grew at an annual rate of 4.3%, external<\/a> in the three months to September. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Trump may be referring to an estimate from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, one of the Fed\u2019s 12 regional banks. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlantafed.org\/cqer\/feature\/2026\/01\/21-gdpnow\" class=\"ssrcss-ydgjc1-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">latest modelling suggests 5.4% GDP growth in the three months to December, external<\/a>.
