Dave Grohl<\/a>\u00a0has revealed that\u00a0Foo Fighters<\/a>\u00a0finished work on their new studio album \u201cthe other day\u201d.<\/p>\n

Yesterday (January 24), the band played the opening date of the Australian leg of their \u2018Take Cover\u2019\u00a0tour<\/a>\u00a0at the UTAS Stadium in Launceston, Tasmania. During the encore, they\u00a0played \u2018Exhausted\u2019 from the self-titled 1995 debut album, and as he introduced it, Grohl dropped the news.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll be back here sooner than you think,\u201d he said to the Aussie crowd. \u201cI know when we\u2019re coming back! It is before my next birthday [January 14, 2027], just so you know.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cAnd we might have a whole new record of fucking songs that we just finished the other day. I\u00a0dunno!\u201d<\/p>\n

The band\u2019s last studio album was \u2018But Here We Are\u2019 in 2023, their first since the passing of both\u00a0drummer Taylor Hawkins<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Grohl\u2019s mother\u00a0Virginia<\/a>.\u00a0NME\u00a0gave the album the full five stars<\/a>, writing:\u00a0\u201c\u2018But Here We Are\u2019 is a beautiful, noisy celebration of brotherhood and a stark, painful exploration of loss. It is messy, gut-wrenching,\u00a0ambitious\u00a0and gorgeous, as the remaining members of Foo Fighters push themselves to their limits and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year,\u00a0they celebrated their 30th\u00a0anniversary as a band with the single \u2018Today\u2019s Song\u2019<\/a>, and followed that up with\u00a0another new track \u2018Asking For A Friend\u2019<\/a>.\u00a0In October, they also teased at a new era of music\u00a0with a blistering teaser and the phrase, \u201cabout to take flight\u2026\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Foo Fighters also released a new live album capturing their recent run of intimate club shows.<\/a>\u00a0The six-track record, titled \u2018Are Playing Where??? Vol. I\u2019,\u00a0arrived exclusively on Bandcamp in October.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The \u2018Take Cover\u2019 tour launched in Mexico earlier this month<\/a>,\u00a0although they did so without guitarist Pat Smear,\u00a0who said he had to sit out some gigs having broken his foot<\/a>\u00a0in a \u201cbizarre gardening accident\u201d.<\/p>\n

The band will make their return to the UK and Europe this summer as well, and the dates include two shows\u00a0at Liverpool FC\u2019s Anfield Stadium\u00a0<\/a>on June 25 and 27. There are also festival slots at\u00a0Mad Cool<\/a>,\u00a0Pinkpop<\/a>\u00a0and more lined-up.<\/p>\n

Support across various dates will include\u00a0Royel Otis<\/a>,\u00a0Inhaler<\/a>,\u00a0IDLES<\/a>,\u00a0Otoboke Beaver<\/a>,\u00a0Fat Dog<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Die Spitz<\/a>.
