{"id":390995,"date":"2026-01-26T08:15:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T08:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/390995\/"},"modified":"2026-01-26T08:15:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T08:15:07","slug":"how-to-see-once-nearly-extinct-goshawk-returning-to-norfolk-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/390995\/","title":{"rendered":"How to see once nearly extinct goshawk returning to Norfolk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Reknowned for being &#8220;very secretive&#8221;, goshawks are still a &#8220;very rare&#8221; bird in the UK, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edp24.co.uk\/news\/25545512.norfolk-wildlife-trust-buys-sotshole-broad-new-haven\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Norfolk Wildlife Trust<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Otherwise known as the &#8220;phantoms of the forests&#8221;, the raptors can soar through trees at up to 25mph as they hunt prey, including pigeons, crows, squirrels and rabbits.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  And Norfolk birdwatchers won&#8217;t have to wait long to get a good chance of spotting a goshawk.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The birds of prey are most frequently seen dancing through the sky in certain Norfolk woodlands, known as &#8220;national hotspots,&#8221; between February and April.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>The once extinct goshawk is making a return to Norfolk, and February marks the start of the best period to spot one.
