Sir Jim Ratcliffe needs to focus his resources on Manchester United amid his desire to sell French club Nice.<\/p>\n

That is according to football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, who has exclusively told\u00a0Football Insider\u00a0that Man United<\/a> need to be \u201craising finances.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ratcliffe put Nice up for sale in May 2025<\/a>, and he owns a 100% stake in the club, having purchased it for around \u00a385million in 2019.<\/p>\n

The club has yet to be sold and Ratcliffe may have to accept an offer for Nice below his asking price<\/a> of \u20ac200m.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to\u00a0Football Insider, Plumley believes Man United\u2019s on-pitch performance is also behind the club\u2019s financial struggles and is a factor in Ratcliffe\u2019s push to sell Nice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0say\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0at desperation stage yet, but I think\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0a clear challenge still on the table at Manchester United, and\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0said this before about, you know, raising funds in all manner of ways, raising finance,\u201d Plumley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve\u00a0got a big stadium project that they want to push forward with.\u00a0We\u2019ve\u00a0seen the cost-cutting exercises.\u00a0We\u2019ve\u00a0said they\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0keep\u00a0missing out on the\u00a0Champions League, if\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0going to\u00a0keep pace with the European elite.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, you know, interestingly, the Deloitte Football money league is\u00a0out,\u00a0and\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0slipped to eighth in the revenue table.\u00a0They were fourth last year.\u00a0Despite increasing their own revenues,\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0still slipped.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSo\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0now behind Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain, and then Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal.\u00a0So\u00a0you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0want to keep happening too many times again with Manchester United.\u00a0I say this a lot with Manchester United.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite all their own pitch struggles, they are still a huge football\u00a0club,\u00a0and\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0continued to drive commercial revenue and\u00a0there\u2019s\u00a0a lot to be said for that.\u00a0But you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0want that on-pitch performance to keep slumping in the general picture, and you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0want all this back-of-house, you know,\u00a0kind of around\u00a0the manager, the sporting director, the board, Jim Ratcliffe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve\u00a0got to\u00a0get a hold of that.\u00a0And\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0not kind of desperation stage right now, but,\u00a0yeah,\u00a0I think that the focus\u00a0needs to be on Manchester United and taking this project forward because\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a huge project.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Man United are interested in hiring Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola<\/a> to become the next permanent boss at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Bournemouth<\/a> still want to extend Iraola\u2019s time at the club, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
