\n The 76-year-old Bafta award-winning star of stage stage and screen – whose film work includes Love Actually, About Time, Pirates of the Caribbean, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. was spotted on Victoria Road in New Brighton (Monday, January 26) filming for comedy A Town in Nova Scotia.\n<\/p>\n
\n Born in Caterham, Surrey, he has also filmed scenes for the movie on Caithness Drive in Wallasey and on the promenade.\n<\/p>\n
\n Liverpool Film Office confirmed that work on independent production A Town in Nova Scotia is taking place at locations across the country until the middle of February.\n<\/p>\n
\n The film, from British-Iranian director Babak Jalali, Leon, is about an “Irishman in his 70s, who lives in a council block flat in Wirral.”\n<\/p>\n

\n A synopsis of the film says: “His wife died recently, and his daughter Anna moved to Canada. His closest companion is his old colleague and best friend Saleh, of similar age who also lives alone on the same floor of the building.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Leon and Saleh have been thick as thieves for years; still Leon finds it hard to talk to him about the recent plea his daughter Anna has made for him to join her and her family across the pond and start a new life in Nova Scotia.”\n<\/p>\n

\n The peninsula has become a popular location for filming in recent years with recent productions including TV drama This City is Ours and DC production Clayface.\n<\/p>\n
