{"id":391654,"date":"2026-01-26T18:00:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T18:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/391654\/"},"modified":"2026-01-26T18:00:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T18:00:12","slug":"fcbs-and-morris-cos-500m-kings-cross-scheme-set-to-be-approved-this-week-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/391654\/","title":{"rendered":"FCBS and Morris + Co\u2019s \u00a3500m King\u2019s Cross scheme set to be approved this week | News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Full screen in popup<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"eager\" class=\"lazyloaded \" alt=\"\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2022816_camleystreet1_227318.jpg\" width=\"707\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"lazyloaded \" alt=\"\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2022820_cedarway2_721324.jpg\" width=\"836\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"lazyloaded \" alt=\"\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2022817_cedarway1_901489.jpg\" width=\"811\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"description\">Morris + Company&#8217;s half of the Camley Street and Cedar Way scheme in Camden<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"lazyloaded \" alt=\"\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2022819_cedarway3_537317.jpg\" width=\"834\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"lazyloaded \" alt=\"\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2022818_camleystreet2_537829.jpg\" width=\"799\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"description\">FCBS&#8217; northern plot on the development<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and Morris + Company\u2019s plans for a \u00a3500m mixed-use district near King\u2019s Cross are set to be approved by Camden council this week.<\/p>\n<p>Planning officers have recommended two separate applications for the redevelopment of the Camley Street and Cedar Way sites for approval ahead of a planning committee meeting on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The project has been designed for developers Ballymore and life sciences developer Lateral, which are working in a joint venture for Camden council.<\/p>\n<p>It will see the demolition of all existing buildings on the two industrial sites, which are positioned either side of a railway line just north of Regent\u2019s Canal.<\/p>\n<p>The 0.5ha northern site, designed by FCBS, would contain an interlinked mixed-use building ranging from eight to 13 storeys in height, containing 119 social rent homes on upper levels and commercial space on lower storeys.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"picture\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Camley Street 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1769450412_38_2022818_camleystreet2_537829.jpg\"   loading=\"lazy\" class=\"lazyloaded\" width=\"1180\" height=\"799\"\/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The 1ha southern site, designed by Morris + Co, would contain a a 31-storey residential tower, a nine-storey residential block and a 13-storey office block.<\/p>\n<p>Planning officers said the scheme would make the best use of the brownfield site with a high-density development close to King\u2019s Cross.<\/p>\n<p>Officers added that the loss of the site\u2019s industrial space, which is counter to Camden\u2019s local plan, would be outweighed by the \u201csignificant and compelling public benefits\u201d of the development, including the provision of social rent homes.<\/p>\n<p>The project team for both sites includes Turley on planning, Hoare Lea on MEP, Velocity on transport, Spacehub as landscape architect, Montagu Evans on townscape and WBD on facades.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Aecom is cost consultant on FCBS\u2019 northern site with Gardiner &amp; Theobald appointed to the same role on Morris + Co\u2019s larger southern site.
