The Day Of The Jackal’s Richard Dormer will return to the BBC’s Belfast police drama Blue Lights for season 4. Dormer exited the series in season 1, episode 5 when his character Detective Constable Gerry Cliff was tragically shot by a local gangster while on patrol.<\/p>\n

The BBC hasn’t released any details surrounding Dormer’s return to series.<\/p>\n

The Game of Thrones actor isn’t the only character returning to the police drama. Season 4 also welcomes back Malpractice’s Hannah McClean as solicitor Jen Robinson, as well as the disgraced Inspector Jonty (Jonathan Harden) in an episode that is set to “answer important questions from the past,” (via a BBC statement).<\/p>\n

The synopsis for the highly anticipated fourth season reads: “Three years into their jobs as response officers, Constables Grace Ellis (Si\u00e2n Brooke), Tommy Foster (Nathan Braniff), and Annie Conlon (Katherine Devlin) are operating at their limit, facing a new threat on the streets that the police can barely control. <\/p>\n

“Meanwhile the murder trial of Gerry Cliff exposes a dangerous and long-buried secret that leads to chaos both inside the police, and across the criminal underworld. <\/p>\n

“As they grapple with big decisions about their future, Grace, Tommy and Annie must find the courage to face the greatest threat they have ever encountered: the truth.”<\/p>\n

Ahead of its debut co-creators and co-writers Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson released a joint statement about season four saying: “We’re very excited to bring this series of Blue Lights to audiences.<\/p>\n

“It reveals a lot of dark secrets, examines what justice looks like in Belfast today, and ties together the past, present, and futures of Grace, Annie and Tommy in an action-packed story. We can’t wait to start filming it!”<\/p>\n

BBC Drama Commissioning Editor Nick Lambon also chipped in saying: “Blue Lights has gripped and entertained millions of viewers across three series and Declan and Adam’s scripts will once again have us all on the edge of our seats. <\/p>\n

“Gerry Cliff was such an integral part of series one so to have Richard Dormer back alongside our talented cast is a dream come true. We are over the moon to be back filming in Belfast, and with so many twists and turns in store, fans of Blue Lights have plenty to look forward to.”<\/p>\n
