{"id":39428,"date":"2025-08-02T01:33:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-02T01:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/39428\/"},"modified":"2025-08-02T01:33:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-02T01:33:08","slug":"alexander-zverev-names-the-shot-he-was-struggling-with-against-matteo-arnaldi-in-toronto-which-he-found-strange","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/39428\/","title":{"rendered":"Alexander Zverev names the shot he was struggling with against Matteo Arnaldi in Toronto which he found &#8216;strange&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Alexander Zverev reached a career milestone after reaching the fourth round of the Canadian Open.<\/p>\n<p>The German entered the Masters 1000 event as top seed following the withdrawals of <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> and world number one <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/jannik-sinner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jannik Sinner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Zverev is determined to have a strong campaign in Toronto following a shock first-round exit at <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wimbledon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old was a set down in his third round encounter, but he dug deep and reversed the deficit to register a special win in his career.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2227225697-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Alexander Zverev hits a backhand against Matteo Arnaldi at the 2025 National Bank Open\" class=\"wp-image-316671\" \/>Photo by Julian Avram\/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesAlexander Zverev says his backhand was \u2018off\u2019 at the Canadian Open which he found \u2018strange\u2019<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/alexander-zverev\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alexander Zverev<\/a> faced Matteo Arnaldi for a spot in the fourth round at the Canadian Open.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian made a bright start by taking the opening set on a tiebreak, but Zverev soon found his range.<\/p>\n<p>He lost just five games over the course of the next two sets to triumph 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-2 in just under three hours of play.<\/p>\n<p>While Zverev was pleased with the victory, he was concerned with his usually reliable backhand early in the match.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I started playing better from the baseline. The longer the match went on, I started to find my rhythm a bit,\u201d Zverev said post-match.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was actually my backhand that was feeling a bit off in the beginning, which is strange. Doesn\u2019t happen very often. But after I found that shot, I was comfortable and I was happy about the level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2227221459-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Alexander Zverev celebrates after winning a point against Matteo Arnaldi at the National Bank Open 2025\" class=\"wp-image-316674\" \/>Photo by Mert Alper Dervis \/Anadolu via Getty ImagesAlexander Zverev is delighted to reach 500 ATP match wins<\/p>\n<p>Zverev\u2019s hard-fought victory over Arnaldi was the 500th ATP win of his career.<\/p>\n<p>The three-time Grand Slam runner-up has made history by becoming the first man born in 1990 or later to achieve this feat.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the achievement, Zverev is not resting on his laurels as he targets more success on the <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/atp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ATP Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great achievement. There\u2019s not a lot of players that reached that milestone,\u201d Zverev shared. \u201cOf course I still want 500 more hopefully to come, and maybe even more!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you start your career, you wish to play on Tour, you wish to have a successful career, win as many matches as possible.
