In case you missed it, McDonald\u2019s has announced the Friends Meal<\/a> is officially coming to the UK.<\/p>\n Super exciting, right? I KNOW!\u00a0<\/p>\n Launching in restaurants nationwide from February 3, the nostalgic<\/a> meal features either a Big Mac, McPlant, or McNuggets, along with fries, a drink, and a toy.\u00a0<\/p>\n Fans of the 90s<\/a> sitcom can collect little figurines of all six Friends characters, with mini versions of Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Joey, and Ross available.\u00a0<\/p>\n Ahead of the launch, I was invited down to McDonald\u2019s HQ in London<\/a> to try some of the new Friends items before any other UK journalist.\u00a0<\/p>\n Here\u2019s my verdict\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n There\u2019s just one thing I\u2019d change<\/p>\n If you loved collecting Happy Meal toys as a kid, this nostalgic Warner Bros collaboration is going to reignite your obsession, there\u2019s no doubt about it.\u00a0<\/p>\n As I waited for staff to hand me a tray of food, the eager anticipation I felt transported me straight back to my childhood. I was mentally keeping all my fingers crossed that inside the box, I\u2019d find Monica\u2026 and reader, I got her!\u00a0<\/p>\n All six of the little figures are cute, with some fun details.<\/p>\n Rachel is serving coffee<\/a>, Monica is in her chef whites, Chandler is holding the chick, Joey has the duck, Phoebe is playing guitar, and Ross is joined by his monkey, Marcel.<\/p>\n Toys aside, the meal itself is pretty standard, filled with classics from the menu, but there\u2019s a brand-new sauce that comes with it: Monica\u2019s Marinara.<\/p>\n \t\t I have to admit, I didn\u2019t have high hopes for the sauce. McDonald\u2019s has launched many tomato dips and salsas over the years, and they all taste pretty much identical. So, I was expecting more of the same from this, just repackaged with Friends branding \u2014 but I was pleasantly surprised.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tHey, foodies! Sadly, these weren\u2019t available during my visit.\u00a0<\/p>\n I did get an early taste of the new Doughnut Latte, though, which is Central Perk-approved.<\/p>\n For this, doughnut-flavour syrup is added to a latte, then topped with cream and a sprinkle of doughnut crumb. <\/p>\n It\u2019s the right mix of bitter coffee and sugary sweetness \u2014 I can imagine it would be right up Joey\u2019s street.\u00a0<\/p>\n \t\t While I loved trying the Friends Meal, I can\u2019t help but feel one thing was missing, and that\u2019s a bold new burger.<\/p>\n I don\u2019t want to be greedy, as Maccies is giving the people exactly what they want with this launch, but as Friends is such a foodie show, it feels like this launch was the perfect excuse to get creative.<\/p>\n A meatball marinara sub could have been interesting, or perhaps a fast food twist on Ross Geller\u2019s infamous moist maker sandwich?<\/p>\n And a dessert inspired by Rachel\u2019s ridiculously wrong trifle (hold the beef) would have been iconic, too. <\/p>\n Got some better ideas for the Friends adult happy meal? We\u2019d love to hear them.<\/p>\n The only other sticking point is that this meal is by no means cheap.<\/p>\n Prices start from \u00a39.09 for a Medium Big Mac or McPlant Meal and \u00a39.19 for a Medium 9-piece McNugget Meal.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n This is more than it has cost in other countries previously.
