Recently came the news that Christina Hodson had been tapped by DC Studios chief James Gunn to pen the script for the upcoming DCU Batman movie \u201cThe Brave and the Bold\u201d.<\/p>\n

That hiring drew some eyebrows. The British screenwriter is best known for writing the well-received \u201cBumblebee\u201d and \u201cBirds of Prey\u201d films, and not so well-regarded 2023 \u201cThe Flash\u201d film for the DCEU.<\/p>\n

That last film in particular led to criticism of the hire on social media, which Gunn has now responded to on Threads<\/a> (via CS<\/a>, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cI will only say anyone maligning Christina Hodson\u2019s screenwriting skills has almost certainly never read an actual screenplay by Christina Hodson \u2013 she\u2019s one of the writers who was with us early in the DCU planning stages. I don\u2019t think you can judge my writing based on films others directed, as massive liberties are sometimes taken.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gunn also commented on recent reports regarding \u201cThe Brave and the Bold\u201d saying, \u201cthe universe is rife with incorrect information about the Brave and the Bold on every level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Someone told Gunn that TV\u2019s The Flash, actor Grant Gustin, has \u2018gotta happen\u2019 \u2013 referring to the actor making the jump to film. Gunn responded: \u201cIt happened on TV for 9 seasons\u201d.<\/p>\n

Another comment, reportedly now deleted, asked if Pattinson could appear as Batman in the DCU as a \u2018variant\u2019 disconnected from the Matt Reeves films to which Gunn simply said \u201cNo\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Warner Bros.
