as Oxford business closes down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Pedal &amp; Post, which is at Osney Mead industrial estate, has stopped all operations in the city after a &#8220;major client&#8221; pulled out.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A total of 60 people, including a mix of employed and self employed team members across Oxford and London, have lost their job as the company ceases trading.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Robin Tucker, co-chairman of CoHSAT, said the Coalition for Healthy Streets and Active Travel is &#8220;very sad&#8221; to learn of the company being shut down.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>null (Image: Pedal &amp; Post)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Their bright blue cargo bikes and friendly riders have been a cheering sight on Oxford streets for more than a decade, reducing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oxfordmail.co.uk\/li\/traffic.in.Oxford\/?ref=au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">traffic<\/a> congestion and pollution, and transporting vital medical supplies through traffic jams,&#8221; Mr Tucker said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;They were also an ethical business, with all riders being employees paid the Oxford living wage and trained to high standards.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxfordmail.co.uk\/news\/25797192.cycling-courier-ceases-trading-60-people-lose-jobs\/?ref=ed_recent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cycling courier ceases trading and 60 people lose jobs<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We hope that most of their business will transfer to other cycle logistics firms and so remain green, clean and efficient.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Robin Tucker (Image: Submitted)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Meanwhile, Cyclox chairman Ian Loader said his group is sad at the demise, too.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mr Loader added: &#8220;For 14 years they have made deliveries quicker and quieter all over the city.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;They have contributed to cleaner air in the city which is good for our health and have ensured fast delivery of medicines including chemotherapy for cancer sufferers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Cycle couriers are fast and reliable, and we would like to see more of them taking goods into and out of the city centre without causing pollution or traffic jams.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Many businesses and charities will continue to use cycle couriers for their deliveries because it makes sense for them, their customers and for all Oxford residents.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Anna Railton, city councillor and cabinet member for zero carbon Oxford, said she is &#8220;really sorry&#8221; to see Pedal &amp; Post go, adding it is a &#8220;great loss&#8221; for the area.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;They were an Oxford business through and through and have done lots of innovation over the years to make deliveries in our city safer and more sustainable for everyone,&#8221; she said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I hope all the staff find new opportunities quickly.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Anna Railton (Image: Contributed)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Pedal &amp; Post chief executive and founder Christopher Benton said millions of deliveries were made over the 14 years.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;We want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported Pedal &amp; Post over the years: our clients, partners, riders, staff, and the wider community who believed in what we were trying to achieve,&#8221; he said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Your support meant everything.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He added: &#8220;While this chapter has come to a close, we firmly believe this is not the end for cargo bike logistics.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Pedal &amp;
