Ghanaian actor and producer Louis Lamis, popularly known for his roles in the Kejetia and Makola series, has taken to social media to share his thoughts on recent comments made by GHOne TV journalist Lily Mohammed following the government\u2019s decision to issue a Ghanaian passport to American streamer IShowSpeed.<\/p>\n

In a social media post that has been making waves since January 28, 2026, Louis Lamis described the journalist\u2019s comments as \u201cshameful and unfortunate.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, the GHOne journalist, who described the government\u2019s decision to grant a passport to the American streamer as unnecessary, needs to conduct thorough research before making such statements.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you don\u2019t know what this gentleman has done for Ghana, just a few years ago, we were paying millions of dollars to advertise on CNN. This young man has come to our country to freely advertise Ghana\u2019s sites. He came to sell an experience. So when you ask what he has added to the GDP of the country, this is what he has done for us.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has harvested the next generation of investors, the next generation of tourists, and the next generation of politicians to fall in love with Ghana. If you are a media person or a journalist and you want to go on a rant like this, it is always prudent and wise to do thorough research about the impact before questioning it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Louis Lamis, while questioning Lily Mohammed\u2019s understanding of the matter, further noted that traditional media would soon become a thing of the past and urged journalists to embrace new media platforms.<\/p>\n

He added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs did nothing wrong by deciding to grant IShowSpeed a Ghanaian passport, given the size of the streamer\u2019s global following, once again describing the journalist\u2019s comments as unfortunate and shameful.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo thorough research about the impact if you\u2019re going to insult a strategic minister who believes this is a good opportunity. We have someone who tells us that 50 per cent of himself is from Ghana. He is a 50 per cent Ghanaian. Now, this guy is an ambassador, a free one. He is an institution when it comes to the attention economy, the new gold. So, ignorance once again.<\/p>\n

\u201cTV is dying, if you don\u2019t know. Radio is dying. The space you are occupying is dying. The new space is where this guy belongs, and he is an institution. This is a shame to anyone with such myopic thinking. This is shameful and unfortunate,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
