\n\tNick Frost<\/a> recently told The Guardian <\/a>that he manifested playing the role of Hagrid in HBO\u2019s upcoming \u201cHarry Potter<\/a>\u201d series reboot by watching all eight \u201cHarry Potter\u201d movies on television and writing the name \u201cHagrid\u201d thousands of times by hand. As drastic as that may sound, the universe clearly listened as the \u201cHot Fuzz\u201d and \u201cShaun of the Dead\u201d favorite landed the role of Hogwarts\u2019 beloved groundskeeper, previously played by the late Robbie Coltrane on the big screen.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve seen all the films. We go through them all as a family during Christmas every year,\u201d Frost told the publication. \u201cWe start on December 20 and finish a week and a half later. Before I was cast as Hagrid, my partner suggested trying to manifest it. So last Christmas, I watched all the films back to back on the Sky \u2018Harry Potter\u2019 channel, while writing out the word \u2018Hagrid\u2019 7,000 times.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking to\u00a0Collider<\/a>\u00a0earlier last year, Frost praised Coltrane\u2019s Hagrid performance and told fans not to expect a carbon copy.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m going to try and do something, not \u2018different,\u2019 I think you have to be respectful to the subject matter, but within that, there\u2019s scope for minutia,\u201d Frost explained. \u201cI always read Hagrid as he\u2019s like a lovely, lost, violent, funny, warm child. I think the beauty of being able to do a book a season means I get to explore that a lot more, and I can\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOriginal \u201cHarry Potter\u201d director Chris Columbus made headlines last year<\/a> during an interview on \u201cThe Rest Is Entertainment\u201d podcast<\/a>\u00a0in which he questioned HBO\u2019s reboot after he saw set photos of Frost\u00a0as Hagrid.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo, I\u2019m seeing these photographs\u2026 and [Nick Frost is] wearing the exact same costume that we designed for Hagrid. Part of me was like: What\u2019s the point?\u201d Columbus said. \u201cI thought the costumes and everything was going to be different, but it\u2019s more of the same. It\u2019s all going to be the same. It\u2019s very flattering for me, because I\u2019m like, that\u2019s exactly the Hagrid costume that we designed. So, part of it is really exciting, so I\u2019m excited to see what they\u2019re going to do with it. Part of it is sort of deja vu all over again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a separate interview with\u00a0The Standard<\/a>, Columbus said he had recently run into Nick Frost and he got honest with him: \u201cI said, \u2018This is very surreal for me \u2014 you have to understand, Robbie Coltrane and I were so close.\u2019 So it\u2019s just weird, bizarre.\u201d<\/p>\n
