Tommaso Ciampa has opened up on his WWE departure and AEW signing following his debut on last night\u2019s Dynamite.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Tommaso Ciampa<\/a> was officially removed from WWE\u2019s roster page, confirming his departure from the company following the expiration of his contract.<\/p>\n

With Ciampa\u2019s contract expiring, he was not bound to a non-compete clause, with him debuting for AEW on last night\u2019s episode of Dynamite, answering Mark Briscoe\u2019s TNT Championship Open Challenge for this Saturday\u2019s episode of Collision.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sports Illustrated<\/a> following his Dynamite debut, Ciampa opened up on his decision to leave WWE, saying it was something he was leaning towards for \u2018quite some time\u2019.<\/p>\n

He said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s something I\u2019ve been leaning towards for quite some time. I don\u2019t know that I can say there\u2019s one sole factor that led to it or caused it. I think it\u2019s one of those things when your contract is coming to an end, you naturally have discussions. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf I wrestled in the 90s, I\u2019d wanna be a part of ECW\u2026 Early 2000s, you wanna be a part of Ring of Honor. I was lucky I got to do that a little bit. 2010s, I think for me at least, I wanted to be part of NXT Black and Gold. And when I looked at the landscape of professional wrestling in the 2020s\u2026 the answer was AEW, man. That\u2019s what I want to be a part of.\u201d<\/p>\n
