Trams on a Metrolink line have been cancelled ‘until further notice’ as emergency repairs are carried out, transport bosses have announced.<\/p>\n

Commuters are being hit by delays as a result over rush-hour on Friday morning. Transport for Greater Manchester, in a statement, reported an ‘overhead line fault’ near Salford<\/a> Quays in Salford.<\/p>\n

As a result, there are no trams running between the Eccles and Pomona stops, with the Eccles line suspended ‘until further notice’, TfGM said.<\/p>\n

Trams will be running from Ashton-under-Lyne to Deansgate-Castlefield only. In a statement, TfGM said: “An overhead line fault near Salford Quays<\/a> is expected to impact Metrolink<\/a> services on the Eccles<\/a> line until further notice while repairs are carried out.<\/p>\n

“There are currently no trams running between Eccles and Pomona stops, with the Eccles line suspended until further notice. Trams will be running from Ashton-under-Lyne to Deansgate-Castlefield only. Staff are out on the Metrolink network across the city centre and at affected stops on the Eccles line to help passengers get to their destinations safely.<\/p>\n

“Ticket acceptance is in place on local Bee Network buses, with a full list of services and further travel advice available on the TfGM website<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

Ian Davies, TfGM\u2019s Interim Metrolink Network Director, said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing customers this morning.<\/p>\n
