Obviously, they have played a lot of minutes. They’ve been carrying a few niggles and was a really good opportunity for us to offload them a little bit and refresh them.” – Mikel Arteta on William Saliba and Jurrien Timber

Mikel Arteta also said he had no fresh concerns from Wednesday’s win over Kairat Almaty.

“No, we didn’t have any surprises there, and hopefully everybody will train well today and be available for tomorrow.” – Mikel Arteta

That leaves Max Dowman (ankle) as the only known absentee.

“It will be a little bit more [serious] than Mosquera’s [recent injury]. Obviously, he’s growing, and we need to be very careful and a little bit more protective. It’s true that he has a different schedule as well because he needs to go to school and that, so we need to respect a lot of things throughout that process. But I think he’s quite close. He’s on the pitch now, he’s doing well and hopefully we’re going to be able to see him soon.” – Mikel Arteta on Max Dowman

The Gunners welcomed back the fit-again Riccardo Calafiori and Kai Havertz to their starting XI in midweek.

“Riccy has been instrumental, in the way especially that we attack, and he has unique qualities to occupy spaces and to create things that, probably, the qualities of the other full-backs are different. So, when we need them, they will be there. Now he’s fit, he’s available, and we’ll have to wait and see when we can use him.” – Mikel Arteta on Riccardo Calafiori

“He is ready [to start more matches]. Obviously, he started the other day. It’s been a long period and now we need to manage that load and the games that we’re going to select for him to start. But there was no reaction to that, I think it was super positive, you could see straight away the impact that he can have in the team. So yeah, he’s ready.” Mikel Arteta on Kai Havertz

LIVERPOOL

Jeremie Frimpong will be out for a “few weeks” with the injury he picked up in Wednesday’s win over Qarabag.

“He will definitely not be in the squad tomorrow. He’s out for a few weeks but not as bad as we thought he would be out, so something positive from something not so positive.” – Arne Slot on Jeremie Frimpong

Joe Gomez (knock) will miss out again, too, having suffered a knee-on-knee collision with his own goalkeeper in the defeat to Bournemouth.

“Joe will not be available. That doesn’t have to take much longer any more but he will not be available for the weekend.” – Arne Slot

Ibrahima Konate is back this weekend, however, having missed the last three matches due for personal reasons.

“Ibou has trained with us yesterday. He trains with us today, and will be in the squad tomorrow.” – Arne Slot

And Curtis Jones has recovered from the illness that saw him miss out in the UEFA Champions League.

“Curtis is again available. He was sick, as I said, but he is available.” – Arne Slot

Alexander Isak (ankle), Conor Bradley (knee), Giovanni Leoni (knee), Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring) and Jayden Danns (hamstring) remain out.

“He’s not even on the pitch yet. I think it’s called a ‘walker’, he’s just out of his walker, so that tells you that he’s not on the pitch and [we’re] not expecting him on the pitch today or tomorrow in terms of his recovery work. That’s going to take a while before he’s back, as we knew.” – Arne Slot on Alexander Isak

CHELSEA

Cole Palmer came through Wednesday’s game against Napoli unscathed – and according to Liam Rosenior, he’s ready to start.

“[He’s] absolutely fine.

“[90 minutes is] what he wants, that’s what I want. He’s available to start tomorrow, so really, really happy about that.

“When Cole or Romeo Lavia or Enzo Fernandez are at their top level, they’re top players. We want to make sure they’re at their top level and I think Cole showed really good signs of that on Wedneday night.” – Liam Rosenior on Cole Palmer

Dario Essugo (unknown), Tosin Adarabioyo (hamstring), Romeo Lavia (quad), Levi Colwill (knee) and Mykhailo Mudryk (suspended) remain out.

Colwill is out on the pitch running, while Tosin is on the grass doing individual rehab.

More to follow

MANCHESTER CITY

Pep Lijnders took over press conference duties this afternoon, with Pep Guardiola absent due to a “personal matter”. The City boss should be in the dugout against Tottenham Hotspur.

Lijnders started by giving us an update on Jeremy Doku (calf).

“It’s a similar injury as the last one. Only at that time it was on the outside, on the lateral side, now it is on the centre. The last time it took 18 days. I presume this one will be a little bit shorter. It’s in the middle one, so we have to take time, but Jeremy is a robust player. So, we’ll see.” – Pep Lijnders on Jeremy Doku

The City coach also provided us with the latest on Ruben Dias (hamstring).

“What I can say about Ruben is that he will come back Monday in team training.” – Pep Lijnders on Ruben Dias

John Stones (thigh), Josko Gvardiol (leg), Mateo Kovacic (ankle) and Savinho (thigh) are all still sidelined, while Oscar Bobb has moved on to Fulham.

City will at least be able to count on Marc Guéhi and Antoine Semenyo, who were ineligible to face Galatasaray in midweek. Rodri sat out that game through suspension and is available now, too.

Away from injuries, Lijnders gave us his thoughts on Erling Haaland‘s form.

“The first months [of the season], we spoke all the time about Erling, how decisive he was. The mentality sets him apart, in my opinion, because for a striker, the most important thing is always the next ball, the next moment, the next situation. It’s about having this confidence that that will come and we know all his quality, how he can be in the box, with his head, with his feet, with his left, with his right. The scruffy goals, as well.

“It’s for him to keep believing that it comes and yeah, it’s so important that he finished off [the chance on Wednesday]. It shows quality, in that situation, the moment we were in, to put that ball over the goalkeeper. Pure quality, I would say. But we need him in good spirits, as all our front players, because only when you smile, only when you laugh, you can score these goals.” – Pep Lijnders on Erling Haaland

NEWCASTLE UNITED

Bruno Guimaraes (ankle) will be assessed in training today to see if he can feature against Liverpool.

The midfielder was back in Newcastle’s squad in midweek but was an unused substitute, with Eddie Howe explaining that he’d only had “light training” beforehand.

“It’s slightly unknown at the moment. I’d say he did really well to be with us in Paris – I think that was more down to the fact that he was desperate to be there and support the players. We did very, very light training and he participated in that but it was next to nothing, to be honest. He trained with us yesterday but that was more of a test, so look, let’s see how he is today. This will be the day, really, where we decide.” – Eddie Howe on Bruno Guimaraes’ fitness

Fabian Schar (ankle), Emil Krafth (knee), Joelinton (groin) and Tino Livramento (hamstring) are all still sidelined.

“He flew on to Barcelona after the game to get an injection into his groin. It was good news with Joe. The specialist feels he only needs one injection and that means his return could be quite quick, so we’re looking at weeks, not months. Slightly unsure of the exact date yet, but it’s positive news.” – Eddie Howe on Joelinton

“He’s doing well. I believe he’s having a scan today – a second scan to see the progress of his hamstring. Fingers crossed it’s good news and I think if it is, he’ll be back running outside. I think we’re still probably five to six weeks away. We’re looking at an early March return, providing everything goes well.” – Eddie Howe on Tino Livramento

Jacob Murphy (hamstring), like Bruno, returned to the Newcastle squad as an unused substitute in midweek.

“He’s getting there. He’s made some good progress in the last few days. So, yesterday was his first full training session. Again, another player that was there ‘with us’. I was slightly reluctant to use him. I wanted to give him a little bit more time. We’re in that delicate position where we’ve welcomed a few players back, we’ve got to make sure they’re fully fit before we introduce them to the pitch. Will Osula will be in the same boat.” – Eddie Howe

MANCHESTER UNITED

Amid reports suggesting Patrick Dorgu (hamstring) could be out for around 10 weeks, Michael Carrick confirmed the defender would be out for a “period of time”.

“Pat, unfortunately, is going to be out for a period of time. We’re still working through how long that’s going to be.

“He’s had such a big couple of weeks, Pat. We weren’t sure whether it was a little bit of cramp or something a little bit more serious; at the moment, it looks a little bit more on a serious note. It’ll be a few weeks for that; how many weeks, we’ll have to wait and see.” – Michael Carrick on Patrick Dorgu

Matthijs de Ligt (back) also remains sidelined but Joshua Zirkzee has returned to training after a brief lay-off.

“He’s not training with us yet.” – Michael Carrick on Matthijs de Ligt

“Josh is back training this week, which is good news. First time, he’s been out for a short amount of time. It’s the first training with us since we’ve been here, so that’s great to have Josh back.” – Michael Carrick on Joshua Zirkzee

CRYSTAL PALACE

Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Jean-Philippe Mateta, heavily linked with a move away from south London, will not be involved in Sunday’s match against Nottingham Forest.

“I can confirm that JP will not be in the match-day squad, but it is nothing to do with the transfers

“JP isn’t at his best right now with all the nose that happens… We decided it is better not to play him.”

More to follow

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Micky van de Ven is “touch and go” for the visit of Manchester City.

The Dutch defender missed out on the win over Eintracht Frankfurt with a minor issue but has at least been on the grass in the last two days.

Lucas Bergvall (ankle), Pedro Porro (hamstring), Ben Davies (ankle), Richarlison (hamstring), Rodrigo Bentancur (hamstring), Mohammed Kudus (thigh), James Maddison (knee) and Dejan Kulusevski (knee) are on the injury list.

More to follow

EVERTON

Jack Grealish looks set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a foot stress fracture earlier this month. He will likely now need surgery.

“We believe he’s probably going to need surgery but that’s still not absolutely confirmed – but it probably rules him out for the rest of the season.” – David Moyes on Jack Grealish

Tim Iroegbunam (unspecified) is the only other known absentee, although David Moyes also mentioned Carlos Alcaraz – an unused substitute in Gameweek 23 on his return from injury – in his team news summary.

“We’re still waiting a little bit on Charly Alcaraz and Tim Iroegbunam but they’re all certainly getting much closer. Are they fully fit and really up to speed? Some of them not quite, but hopefully it won’t take long.” – David Moyes

Michael Keane is back from a three-match ban, while Jarrad Branthwaite and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall marked their comebacks from hamstring injuries with 45 minutes apiece against Leeds United on Monday.

“I think he’s someone who can make us much better. I actually think, even the other night, you saw the difference when Kiernan is around it. It’s getting him quickly back up to match speed, but we need as many leaders as we can.” – David Moyes on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Moyes discussed his selection headache at centre-half on Friday.

“Well, I’ve not said anything about breaking it up. You have. If you’re talking about the players who we’re bringing back, I’d say, yeah, look, Jarrad, it was great. We got him 45 minutes and got him back. He certainly added much more calmness to us and his ability on the ball. His speed’s really important, as well. So, he gives us those things, but Michael Keane’s back as well. So, we’ll enjoy having the competition and we’ll choose which we think is probably the best for the game.” – David Moyes when asked if he was reluctant to break up his defence, despite the return of bodies at the back

One option is moving Jake O’Brien to right-back, with incumbent Nathan Patterson handed lukewarm praise by Moyes.

“I think he’s done okay. We’ve been actively looking for a right-back for over a year, but I think Patto, when he’s come in, hasn’t let us down. So, we hope he continues to improve and keeps going.” – David Moyes on Nathan Patterson

BOURNEMOUTH

New signing Rayan is available to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

“Very happy to sign Rayan. He has been training the last days with us. Obviously, it’s a big change for him, but he was really happy, also excited. He’s been good [in] training, he’s ready for tomorrow and he will be a good help in this moment where we are with some injuries. Also, another week of training for Alex Toth. That, for sure, is going to be good for him.

“I think [Rayan] could start. He could start, but it’s a decision that I have to make. I think physically he’s fine, he’s trained normal, but we also have to be careful with him in the sense that he’s 19. He’s making a big jump, a big change to a different country, and I want him to be confident. It’s going to be difficult because for sure he still doesn’t know a lot of things about us and we are trying to give him more information, but physically there are no issues with him and he’s ready.” – Andoni Iraola

Otherwise, Andoni Iraola is expecting the squad to be very similar to the one that faced Liverpool last weekend.

David Brooks (ankle) will be the next player back from injury but is looking more at a Gameweek 25 return.

Marcus Tavernier (hamstring), Justin Kluivert (knee), Julio Soler (unspecified), Tyler Adams (knee), Ben Gannon-Doak (hamstring) and Will Dennis (ankle) remain out.

“I think the picture is going to be very similar. We obviously add Rayan from the other game but injury-wise, I think that it’s going to be very, very similar. I think Brooksy is the next one to arrive but I think it’s going to be a little bit early for him and probably we will have to wait until next week. And yes, I think the picture will be very similar.” – Andoni Iraola on his team news

Away from injury news, Iraola also suggested the Cherries may further dip into the transfer market.

“Yes, the club is working now. Probably now we still have two, three days. But we want to add at least one more player if we can and we are working on it, yes.” – Andoni Iraola on the likelihood of more players arriving

Bournemouth have already signed Toth, Rayan and new goalkeeper Christos Mandas.

“Christos is a player that we were following also before. Tiago [Pinto, Bournemouth’s president of football operations] knows him very well from the Italian league. I think he’s a different type of keeper than the ones we’ve got. He has played it at a very high level, obviously in Serie A, also some games with the national team. I think it reinforces our goalkeeping position. It’s more competition for everyone, like in other positions. He also looks a very nice guy, the short time we’ve been with him, the two, three days he has been with us. And I hope he gives his best so [that] I have to take difficult decisions.” – Andoni Iraola on Christos Mandas

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

Fabian Hurzeler said that Brighton have no major new concerns for the visit of Everton.

Diego Gomez is the one slight doubt: he had a minor issue in training, with the Seagulls set to assess him today.

“No [players back from injury] and no new injury news. I think we have the same squad available. There are no new injury concerns. Diego Gomez had a small issue in training, but let’s see if he can train today fully or not. That’s the only concern we have. But beside that, I think we have the same squad available.” – Fabian Hurzeler

Brajan Gruda, who missed out last weekend with a small injury, is back available.

“Yeah, he’s better. He’s back in training and he will be an option.” – Fabian Hurzeler on Brajan Gruda

And Carlos Baleba is fine, despite requesting to be substituted in Gameweek 24.

“He was just tired.
