We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<\/p>\n<p>Your support makes all the difference.Read more<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/the-beatles-films-sam-mendes-cast-release-date-b2725042.html\">The Fab Four<\/a> are here: fans have a first look at Paul Mescal, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/tv\/culture\/barry-keoghan-beatles-ringo-starr-hair-video-b2910355.html\">Barry Keoghan<\/a>, Harris Dickinson and Joseph Quinn in character as <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/features\/beatles-movie-biopic-women-b2748017.html\">The Beatles<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/sam-mendes-beatles-films-b2729358.html\">Sam Mendes\u2019s four films <\/a>will each focus on a particular member of the band, with Mescal as Paul McCartney, Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Dickinson as John Lennon and Quinn as George Harrison.<\/p>\n<p>All four films are currently scheduled for release on 7 April 2028. In a bold marketing move, studio Sony printed four different postcards \u2013 each showing the main cast in character \u2013 and dispersed them around the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (which was co-founded by McCartney) for students to find. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been given exclusive postcards promoting the new Beatles movies! LIPA\u2019s official Instagram account shared on Thursday (29 January).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve hidden them around LIPA, and we want students to find them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Initial reactions to the images have been mixed, but comments on the LIPA post showed plenty of praise for Mescal as McCartney: \u201cI thought that was actually Paul,\u201d one fan wrote. \u201cMescal really nailed the look! Wow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/the-beatles-305225264-16x9_0.jpeg\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Clockwise from bottom left: Quinn as George Harrison, Mescal as Paul McCartney, Keoghan as Ringo Starr and Dickinson as Lennon\" class=\"sc-1mc30lb-0 ggpMaE\"\/>Clockwise from bottom left: Quinn as George Harrison, Mescal as Paul McCartney, Keoghan as Ringo Starr and Dickinson as Lennon (Instagram\/@lipaliverpool)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPaul Mescal really captures that McCartney vibe in these first-look shots,\u201d another fan wrote on X. \u201cLooking forward to seeing how the full cast comes together in the biopics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, some continued to grumble about the casting of Quinn as Harrison, with one claiming he should be \u201crecast immediately\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOK so this is John Frusciante,\u201d another fan joked, suggesting that Quinn\u2019s get-up better resembled the Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist. <\/p>\n<p>Others urged Beatles fans to wait until the films were actually released, in order to see how each actor would depict their respective Beatle onscreen.<\/p>\n<p>Production has begun on the four films, whose central quartet comprise some of the most in-demand actors of their generation. It also marks the first time scripted movies have been granted The Beatles\u2019 life and music rights.<\/p>\n<p>Mescal and co will be joined by Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, James Norton as Brian Epstein, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, Harry Lloyd as George Martin and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/beatles-biopic-mia-mckenna-bruce-b2892278.html\">Mia McKenna-Bruce <\/a>as Maureen Starkey.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Mendes explained why he wanted to make four films, one about each Beatle, comparing it to his BBC2 documentary about the Second World War. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a film-maker, one is always looking to find new ways to look at the past. To turn historical events so they catch the light in new and different ways. My film 1917 was an attempt to do this,\u201d he wrote in The Times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Beatles films we are making now also fall into this category.
