Detectives say such incidents are ‘concerning’ but ‘extremely rare’<\/p>\n

Staff were threatened with a suspected firearm during an armed robbery at a branch of Subway in Salford<\/a>. It happened at the sandwich chain’s restaurant at Ellesmere Retail Park in Walkden<\/a> last night (Saturday, January 31).<\/p>\n

A suspect arrived in a small, black car, sometime between 8.25pm and 8.35pm. “He then produced what appears to be a gun and fled with a small amount of cash,” Greater Manchester Police<\/a> (GMP) said in a statement.<\/p>\n

An investigation is now underway following the ‘extremely rare’ and ‘concerning’ raid. Patrols are being stepped up in the area.<\/p>\n

Officers are also appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n

He was around six feet tall and was wearing a mask, a black hooded coat, black trousers and trainers, GMP said. As part of their appeal they have released a CCTV image of the suspect.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Louise Haslam, of Swinton<\/a> CID, said: \u201cWhile this will be worrying and concerning, this type of incident is extremely rare in Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n

“We will have extra officers in the area today and the next couple of days as we continue our investigation and provide a reassuring presence.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who has CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage to please contact us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anyone with information is asked to call GMP via their website or by calling them on 101 quoting log number 3045 of 31\/01\/26.
