Manchester United claimed all three points at Old Trafford but one Fulham star did stand out and he is actually a former transfer target.<\/p>\n

Benjamin Sesko came to Manchester United\u2019s rescue<\/a> at Old Trafford, scoring an injury-time winner from the bench to beat Fulham 3-2<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Marco Silva\u2019s side also ended the match with more possession after a strong midfield performance, and Sander Berge<\/a> was at the heart of it.<\/p>\n

United showed interest in Sander Berge<\/a> back in 2024 but ultimately decided to walk away from a deal for the 27-year-old. His performance on Sunday suggests that might have been a mistake.<\/p>\n

In the upcoming summer transfer window, United\u2019s top priority is overhauling the central midfield department, with one or two high-profile signings expected.<\/p>\n

In 2024, United chose to sign Manuel Ugarte over Berge<\/a>, but the Uruguayan has never truly settled in the side and he is now being linked with an exit.<\/p>\n

At Old Trafford, Berge was easily one of Fulham\u2019s best players. As per SofaScore<\/a>, he won 100% of his tackles, 100% of his ground duels and made five defensive contributions.<\/p>\n

He also boasted a 93% passing accuracy and completed 30 carries in possession.<\/p>\n

Sander Berge was \u2018excited\u2019 by Man United talks<\/p>\n

United\u2019s interest in Berge was advanced, and he very nearly found himself wearing red at Old Trafford before he made his switch to Fulham.<\/p>\n

According to reports, Berge was \u201cexcited\u201d about joining United<\/a> and the prospect of playing for the Red Devils, but his dream move never happened.<\/p>\n

United under Ineos have now moved on to other targets, with younger options such as Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton at the top of the shopping list for the summer.<\/p>\n

It seems Berge\u2019s chances of playing at Old Trafford have sailed, but the Norwegian proved on Sunday that he would likely be a better option than Ugarte in Carrick\u2019s current squad.<\/p>\n
