Liverpool have remained largely inactive in the transfer market as the transfer deadline approaches. However, the clock hasn’t run down yet for the reigning Premier League<\/a> champions to bolster their squad.<\/p>\n Arne Slot’s<\/a> team presently find themselves outside the top four and despite initial title aspirations, these have virtually disappeared. The Reds invested substantially during the summer, spending close to \u00a3450million<\/a> to secure players including Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz.<\/p>\n Such significant outlay has resulted in a subdued winter window thus far, though fresh reports indicate \u00a355m is about to be committed. This follows an agreement being reached for French defender Jeremy Jacquet<\/a>.<\/p>\n Various Premier League clubs pursued the 20-year-old<\/a>, but the Reds have secured a pre-contract arrangement and he’s expected to arrive during the summer. He joins the club’s Under-21 squad, having impressed at last year’s Under-17 World Cup.<\/p>\n It’s also worth highlighting that, similar to Jacquet, the Reds have reached an agreement in principle to secure young Austrian centre-back Ifeanyi Ndukwe from Austria Wien during the forthcoming summer transfer window.<\/p>\n Ndiaye penned his deal earlier in January(Image: Getty)<\/p>\n Lutsharel Geertruida signed<\/p>\n Regarding prospective transfers, one that might still come to fruition is the acquisition of current Sunderland<\/a> star Lutsharel Geertruida. The defender had been earmarked by Slot’s outfit as defensive reinforcement.<\/p>\n Nevertheless, despite the player’s eagerness to complete the switch, which would have seen him return to his parent club RB Leipzig before signing a short-term contract at Anfield, this deal appears to have collapsed. Sunderland have failed to locate a replacement and consequently were reluctant to sanction this move<\/a>.<\/p>\n But matters progress rapidly on deadline day and a late arrival at the Stadium of Light could revive this transfer. With several defenders sidelined through injury, the adaptable Geertruida, who only arrived in England during the summer, would offer superb backup at right-back and centre-half. The academy graduate has fewer than 18 months remaining on his existing contract.<\/p>\n Jones has featured infrequently under Slot this campaign and was linked with a January departure<\/a> to secure regular first-team football. Inter Milan were amongst the rumoured suitors.<\/p>\n However, any departure has now reportedly ground to a halt and talks with other clubs have been suspended. Still, there could be additional developments on the final day of the window and an exit can’t be entirely dismissed.<\/p>\n Jones has been linked with an Anfield exit(Image: Getty)<\/p>\n Andrew Robertson sold<\/p>\n Another player who was rumoured to be heading out of Anfield this window is Andrew Robertson. One of the Reds’ most dedicated servants has found himself behind Milos Kerkez in the left-back hierarchy. Because of their injury concerns, Tottenham<\/a> had expressed interest in Robertson and were keen to secure him as backup.<\/p>\n But Liverpool were unable to approve a transfer<\/a>.
