{"id":404466,"date":"2026-02-02T21:03:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T21:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/404466\/"},"modified":"2026-02-02T21:03:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T21:03:08","slug":"anglian-water-assessing-hemsby-coastal-erosion-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/404466\/","title":{"rendered":"Anglian Water assessing Hemsby coastal erosion impact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Concerns were raised by residents on Fakes Road, where homes are being demolished after being deemed at risk of collapsing onto the beach, about the safety of a major sewer pipe running close to the cliff edge.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In a statement, an Anglian Water spokesperson said the company has been assessing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatyarmouthmercury.co.uk\/news\/25747118.drone-video-shows-extent-erosion-hemsby-coastline\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the impact of coastal erosion<\/a> on both properties and its wastewater infrastructure.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It said properties identified for demolition have already been \u201csafely disconnected from the main sewer network\u201d.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Demolition works continuing at Hemsby. (Image: Denise Bradley)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The spokesperson added: \u201cOur teams continue to conduct regular checks of the network serving the area, and as the coastline changes, we\u2019ll continue to isolate and seal sections of the sewer whenever our assessments show it\u2019s needed.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Caister sewage treatment works.
