\n Chalkwell Grange Care Home in Leigh, which supports older people including those living with dementia, was rated as “requires improvement” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in a report published on Tuesday following an inspection carried out between November 12 and 26.\n<\/p>\n
\n The care home, run by Sanders Senior Living, was found to be in “continued breaches” of regulations relating to medicines and good governance.\n<\/p>\n
\n The CQC also identified a new breach concerning the employment of fit and proper persons.\n<\/p>\n
\n A spokesperson for Sanders Senior Living said: “Sanders Senior Living is disappointed by the CQC\u2019s findings.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The wellbeing and safety of our residents remains at the heart of all of our operations, issues identified by the CQC are being treated with the utmost seriousness.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We are fully committed to working closely with the CQC, the Local Authority, and partner agencies to ensure every resident at Chalkwell Grange feels safe, supported, and valued.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The home is now under new leadership, and we are taking proactive steps to strengthen the quality of care.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Although the home was rated “good” for being effective and caring, it was rated “requires improvement” for being safe, responsive, and well-led.\n<\/p>\n
\n At the time of the inspection, 48 people were living at the service.\n<\/p>\n
\n The latest inspection was carried out to check if improvements had been made following previous concerns, but the CQC found that this was not the case.\n<\/p>\n
\n Inspectors were not assured that the service was well-led.\n<\/p>\n
\n The CQC said quality assurance systems were not robust enough and did not identify the shortfalls found during the inspection.\n<\/p>\n
\n Feedback from residents and relatives was mixed.\n<\/p>\n
\n One resident said: “I like living here, it is my home.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The staff are lovely and always look after me.”\n<\/p>\n
\n A relative said: “My [relative] is treated with care and compassion.”\n<\/p>\n
