Warrington Wolves will be without another outside-back for next week’s clash with Wigan Warriors.<\/p>\n

Warrington Wolves\u2019 outside-backs have hit another blow, with Connor Wrench failing his head injury assessment in the late defeat to Leigh Leopards.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old was forced from the field in the first half after a collision with Josh Charnley. He was replaced by new NRL recruit Ryan Matterson for his Super League debut, with versatlie Ben Currie shifted from loose forward to the centres.<\/p>\n

Adrian Lam’s Leopards staged a late comeback at the Leigh Sports Village for a 20-16 home result, with Warrington’s play-off chances hanging by a thread. They take on reigning champions Wigan Warriors in Super League Round 21.<\/p>\n

Warrington are already without the likes of Matty Ashton (ACL), Arron Lindop (ACL) and Rodrick Tai (torn pectoral).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Danny Walker\u2019s long-awaited return to action looked to be cut short after suffering an elbow knock, following his introduction from the interchange bench.<\/p>\n

In visible discomfort, the England hooker received on-field treatment and managed to play through the pain barrier in a lively return after three months on the sidelines.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe picked a knock up on his arm, but I thought it was a nice return for him,\u201d head coach Sam Burgess said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good to see him back out there \u2013 he brought a bit of energy which is nice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure exactly what\u2019s happened but it didn\u2019t look too good at the start.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s committed to the side and he\u2019s been out for a while, so he wanted to stay out there. We\u2019ll see how he pulls up over the week.\u201d<\/p>\n
