And obviously Edwin missed that and there\u2019s an art to be able to get up to speed as far as international rugby is concerned and it would have been a fantastic week for him as far as that\u2019s concerned. <\/p>\n He\u2019s had a great week (but) he\u2019s still finding his feet like a few others.\u201d<\/p>\n Thursday\u2019s game also came too soon for Cormac Izuchukwu, who Farrell said was working his way back to full fitness after recovering from a toe injury.<\/p>\n Heading into his seventh Six Nations campaign, Farrell offered this response on whether this year\u2019s championship may prove his toughest so far: \u201cIt really doesn\u2019t matter. To us, all we control is the controllables.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s obvious to say, but it\u2019s absolutely true. We want to be as good a team as we can possibly be, and if we\u2019re pulling in the right direction and chasing that down to be the best team that we can possibly be, we need to prove to ourselves that we can be the best team also in the competition.\u201d<\/p>\n Gerry Thornley is at the Ireland press conference, where head coach Andy Farrell chatted through his team selection.<\/p>\n On Jacob Stockdale\u2019s start on the wing, having last played in the Six Nations against England in March 2023, Farrell said: \u201cHe\u2019s back to being himself this year, that\u2019s for sure. I think if you speak to him, he\u2019d be delighted that he\u2019s just simplified things and got down to what he\u2019s good at, and that\u2019s beating people. And we\u2019ve seen that plenty, certainly this season.\u201d<\/p>\n Asked whether it was a close call between Stockdale and Lowe, he said: \u201cWell, there\u2019s always a debate there but Jacob deserves it.\u201d<\/p>\n Cian Prendergast lines out in the back row, with Farrell citing the 25-year-old\u2019s Connacht captaincy as a factor in his progress.<\/p>\n \u201cWe feel he\u2019s matured a lot. The captaincy is certainly helping him at Connacht as well, taking the responsibility away from himself and being able to channel his thoughts in another way has certainly matured him as a player, that\u2019s for sure. <\/p>\n \u201cWe were delighted with how he took his chance in the autumn, because he\u2019s another one who\u2019s been waiting for a big moment.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s been waiting in the wings for a good few years, so his time is now to be taken. And yeah, he\u2019s across most things in his game, which he\u2019s pretty good at. He believed he knew the way he had come and where he was headed, but he didn\u2019t know the guts of it yet, or the truth of it,\u201d Denis writes.<\/p>\n \u201cA series of concussions had led Doris to a specialist in the UK. He had been experiencing issues with cognitive functions: concentration, short-term memory, speech. The impairments were not so intrusive that anybody else would notice, but for a 22-year-old professional rugby player in the foothills of his career, it was troubling.<\/p>\n \u201cThroughout his young life, Doris had a cold relationship with worry. He didn\u2019t exhibit it or give in to it. But he also didn\u2019t have a fuse box or a trip switch or an earth wire to manage it.
