Keith Hackett thinks that referees need to use common sense when booking managers and coaches after David Moyes saw yellow for running on to the pitch to celebrate Beto\u2019s goal against Brighton.<\/p>\n

The former PGMOL chief and FIFA referee has exclusively told Football Insider that he feels Moyes should not have been booked and referee Chris Kavanagh should have taken the context of the game into account before brandishing the card.<\/p>\n

Everton emerged with a point against Brighton<\/a> last Saturday as Beto<\/a> netted a last-ditch equaliser following Pascal Gross\u2019 opener.<\/p>\n

The German midfielder broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute for the Seagulls, but the Toffees\u2019 persistence paid off as Beto rescued a draw in the final seconds with a tap-in from Bart Verbruggen\u2019s parry.<\/p>\n

Everton<\/a> boss Moyes<\/a> could not hide his excitement as he ran onto the pitch to celebrate, and he was cautioned for doing so, which has caused a stir among fans following his post-match comments.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Moyes was booked for running onto the pitch after Beto\u2019s equaliser<\/p>\n

Beto\u2019s last-minute strike at Brighton<\/a> was just his third goal in 26 appearances so far this season, and the nature of it saw huge celebrations from his teammates, as well as those in the away end and technical area.<\/p>\n

Moyes was shown a yellow by Kavanagh for running and jumping on the pitch after the goal, which he expressed his frustration at after the game.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWe\u2019re killing it. The managers can\u2019t come out of their technical area to celebrate a goal, knee sliding, do things which give you people [the media] quite a bit to talk about.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I\u2019d been a bit more mobile, I might have done a knee slide. That would only have got me a yellow as well, so I might as well have gone the whole hog.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hackett blasts Kavanagh for \u2018lack of passion\u2019 after Moyes booking<\/p>\n

Moyes\u2019 sentiments were shared by many online, and former PGMOL boss Hackett<\/a> has told Football Insider that he believes referee Kavanagh should not have booked him and needed to use more common sense to assess the situation.<\/p>\n

Speaking on The Final Whistle show, he said: \u201cI think that common sense has gone out of the window here. The goal was scored, the equalising goal, in the seventh minute of added-time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re the manager and you\u2019ve had to watch your team struggle, and they then get an equalising goal, sure you\u2019re going to celebrate.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat impact is that yellow card going to have? I think it just shows a lack of passion for the game. Have a quiet word, but, you know, we see managers often running down the touchline berating match officials and they don\u2019t get a yellow card.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a nonsense\u2026referees, get your act together and use a bit of common sense.
