He suggested the singer and star of new film The Moment might have the same experience, stating: \u201cSo you might find somebody\u201d, but Charli XCX awkwardly pointed out that she was already married.<\/p>\n
\u201cI got to read a newspaper one of these days,\u201d Bateman joked, adding: \u201cYour next husband, you’re gonna want kids.\u201d<\/p>\n
The interview has been branded \u201cdisgusting\u201d and an \u201cincredibly rough listening experience\u201d by listeners left frustrated by Bateman\u2019s apparent assumption that \u201ca woman would change their mind on having children if they were with the right partner\u201d. <\/p>\n
\u201cHis positive yet pitying tone is so rancid, you can tell he’s shocked she doesn’t want kids bc she’s a woman,\u201d one listener wrote on X\/Twitter, with another complaining on Reddit: ‘Why the f*** does society continue to pressure women, in particular, about having kids?!\u201d<\/p>\n
However, Bateman has been defended over his lack of knowledge that Charli XCX is married to The 1975 guitarist George Daniel, arguing that this forms a basis of the podcast\u2019s format, which sees Bateman and co-hosts Will Arnett and Sean Hayes interview high-profile subjects.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe point of the podcast is that one host handpicks a guest with the other two not knowing who\u2019ll they be interviewing,\u201d a fan of the series said. <\/p>\n

The question about children arose when Bateman asked Charli: \u201cWould you like to have a kid who has the same experience as you, or it\u2019s the only child and then you get to, you know, nurture and protect?\u201d<\/p>\n
Charli explained to Bateman she doesn\u2019t currently want children, saying: \u201cThat could change. I love the fantasy of having a child like naming it \u2013 it sounds so fun \u2013 but I\u2019m like, that is exactly assigned to me as to why I should not have one.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bateman suggested she could change her mind, telling her: \u201cI mean I guess I\u2019m backing into giving myself a half a**ed compliment here, but my wife did not want to have kids. <\/p>\n
\u201cOnce we started going out, she was like, \u2018OK, I think I can have a kid with this guy.\u2019 So you might find somebody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charli XCX previously opened up about her thoughts on motherhood in the song \u201cI Think About It All The Time\u201d, which was inspired by seeing her close friend with a baby.<\/p>\n
