Crystal Palace have overpaid for Jorgen Strand Larsen and Wolves have come out of the deal the better of the two clubs.<\/p>\n
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to\u00a0Football Insider,\u00a0after Crystal Palace signed Strand Larsen for \u00a348million<\/a> in the January transfer window.<\/p>\n Strand Larsen still arrived at Selhurst Park despite Jean-Philippe Mateta\u2019s move to AC Milan not going through<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 25-year-old has only scored one Premier League goal this season, and has joined from a Wolves<\/a> side who are bottom of the table with just eight points.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Jorgen Strand Larsen was \u2018big surprise\u2019 of January <\/p>\n Everton\u2019s former chief\u00a0Keith Wyness<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs \u2013 has not seen anything from Strand Larsen to suggest Crystal Palace<\/a> should have signed the striker.<\/p>\n Speaking on the new edition of\u00a0Football Insider\u2018s Inside Track podcast<\/a>, Wyness praised Wolves for negotiating the deal they did.<\/p>\n He told\u00a0Football Insider\u2018s Inside Track podcast: \u201cI\u00a0think\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0ridiculous, I really do.\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0said this all\u00a0along,\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0done nothing as far as\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0seen.\u00a0<\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n \u201cCertainly\u00a0he is not impressed with Wolves. He\u00a0hasn\u2019t\u00a0been the star of a Wolves team\u00a0who\u2019ve\u00a0been poor.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0been poorer than some of the\u00a0team. I just\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0get it. The scouting and the data must be incredible for him because I certainly\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0see it on the\u00a0pitch\u00a0and\u00a0I think that price\u00a0is\u00a0ridiculous,\u00a0and I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know how his agent has done it.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cAnd for Palace to have invested that much in him just\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0make sense to me.\u00a0So\u00a0this is one that I\u2019m waiting to see him performing in a decent Palace team for the rest of the season and how he fits the bill. <\/p>\n \u201cNow,\u00a0I know,\u00a0Palace\u00a0have\u00a0had a very controversial window, we say, to say the least. But this one, to me, was the\u00a0big surprise\u00a0of the window at certainly that price. I think they could have\u00a0got\u00a0a much lower price than what they paid.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI think Wolves have done well to get that price out of him.\u00a0So\u00a0I think Wolves\u00a0are the winners in that transaction, but I just\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0see it happening for him,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0afraid.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Strand Larsen joins Crystal Palace knowing that Oliver Glasner will not be the manager of the club from the end of the season.<\/p>\n![\"Jorgen](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/imago1069765538-1024x683.jpg\")
