Al-Hilal have reportedly agreed a deal to sell former Liverpool<\/a> striker Darwin Nunez<\/a> to Turkish giants Fenerbahce. Nunez left Anfield<\/a> last summer to join the Saudi Pro League side in a move worth \u00a346 million.<\/p>\n

According to reports in Saudi Arabia, Fenerbahce have had an offer accepted for the Uruguayan following the arrival of Karim Benzema from rivals Al-Ittihad. The transfer window in Turkey remains open until February 6th, giving the club time to finalise the move.<\/p>\n

Fenerbahce have been in the market for a new attacker, with Morocco international Youssef En\u2011Nesyri expected to complete his move to Al\u2011Ittihad this week. Nunez, meanwhile, is reportedly open to a return to Europe as he looks for regular minutes ahead of this summer’s World Cup.<\/p>\n

Since moving to Al-Hilal, Nunez has also seen his transfer value drop<\/a>, according to Transfermarkt. His valuation now stands at \u20ac35million (\u00a330.6m), down from \u20ac45 million (\u00a339.4m).<\/p>\n

Even before the winter transfer window opened, there had already been rumours suggesting a potential departure could be on the cards.<\/p>\n

Fenerbahce sit second in the Turkish Super Lig, three points behind Galatasaray, and have already secured a place in the European play\u2011offs. They will face Nottingham Forest over two legs for a spot in the knockout stages.<\/p>\n

Should a transfer materialise, Nunez could be available for the play-off games scheduled for later this month.<\/p>\n

Nunez scored 40 goals in 143 appearances for Liverpool and helped the club win the Premier League<\/a> title last season.<\/p>\n

He was once dubbed ‘captain chaos’ by former Reds defender Jamie Carragher<\/a>, a nod to his unpredictable impact and his struggle to secure a consistent starting place during his three seasons at Anfield.<\/p>\n

He slipped down the pecking order towards the end of Jurgen Klopp’s<\/a> tenure, and although a summer 2025 departure seemed increasingly likely, Arne Slot did little to hide his concerns about Nunez’s limitations.<\/p>\n

“Players miss chances – that I can accept,” Slot said<\/a> back in February.<\/p>\n

“What was a bit harder for me to accept was his behaviour after that chance, and by behaviour I mean it got too much in his head, where he wasn’t the usual Darwin that works his butt off and he makes sure he helps the team.”<\/p>\n
