It’s under new rules announced by the Government\"State<\/p>\n

HMRC is clawing back cash from some pensioners.<\/p>\n

Some pensioners are having \u00a317 deducted from their monthly payments under new rules.<\/p>\n

Changes to payments have been confirmed by the DWP<\/a> and cash is being handed to HMRC.<\/p>\n

It’s all to do with new Winter Fuel Payment rules and who now qualifies for them.<\/p>\n

Under a complicated scheme, all pensioners were initially paid Winter Fuel Payments in November and December.<\/p>\n

But those with annual incomes above \u00a335,000 no longer qualify for the cost of living support.<\/p>\n

The money is now being claimed back through these households in instalments through pension payments.<\/p>\n

Wealthier pensions may notice cuts to their usual state pension payments for this reason.<\/p>\n

For under-80s who received \u00a3200 Winter Fuel Payments, HMRC will be deducting \u00a317 a month.<\/p>\n

The Government explained: “If your total income is over \u00a335,000, you\u2019ll need to pay back the payment.<\/p>\n

“HMRC will automatically collect the payment through your tax code unless you already file self-assessment tax returns.<\/p>\n

“This means we\u2019ll change your tax code for the 2026 to 2027 tax year. For a typical payment of \u00a3200, we\u2019ll deduct approximately \u00a317 per month.<\/p>\n

“In the 2027 to 2028 tax year, we\u2019ll deduct approximately \u00a333 per month for a typical payment of \u00a3200.<\/p>\n

“This is because we\u2019ll be collecting your payments from 2026 and 2027. It will then return to approximately \u00a317 per month for the 2028 to 2029 tax year.<\/p>\n

“If you file your self-assessment tax return online each year, HMRC will automatically include the payment on your 2025 to 2026 tax return as part of your income.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It’s under new rules announced by the Government HMRC is clawing back cash from some pensioners.
